  1. I don't know where you are located, but this is who I use: http://www.veritasmachiningllc.com/ He can engrave up to 1/32" deep, way deeper than the .003 required by law. He has an FFL too. Tell him Corbin (the lightsaber guy) sent you. LOL
  2. Definitely learn to do this, unless (like me), you can't hardly use your right thumb. LOL
  3. I've got the same shotgun, only with about 3 pounds less stuff on it. Mine has the mag extension and a light. Looking at slings, but that's about it. To answer your original question about the front shell carrier, it's made by a company called SideArmor. Here's a video of a guy that has one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9K31c_493k
  4. I have a Mossy 500 breacher, which is basically an 18.5" model 590, but with a pistol grip. With the way the breaching mechanism (which is made as part of the barrel) is back bored, you actually get the ballistics of a 14" barrel. I haven't breached a door in 25 years, and don't plan on doing so anytime soon, but the teeth on it would make a nice "back the fuck off" less than lethal impact surface. In regard to the non-NFA mossy, I like it......BUT.....my breacher is only 3/4" to 1" longer overall than it is, and I likely won't have to worry about it being mistaken for an SBS
  5. I wanted to try something like this for a long time (being a lefty), but it's nice to see someone has finally made it available.
  6. Yep. 25 years ago. 12 ga GSW into right palm, out back of wrist and into right side/chest. Most of what hit the chest though had been slowed down enough to just dimple a rib or two. My hand was pretty much right on the muzzle when it discharged. Ruined my whole day. LOL
  7. I purchased my Kestrel 22 suppressor in March and had the dealer Efile for me. A week ago, I was talking with him and he said they still haven't gone through. So I just mailed the form 4 instead yesterday.
  8. Just heard back from my dealer. The efile is still down, so my form is still in limbo. He said I could come down there (2 hours away) and hand sign the form 4 so we can just mail it, but do I have to actually go there in person? Can't he just mail it to me and I send it out? He already has my $200 and NFA trust copy.
  9. My usual EDC is a Taurus PT145, which holds 10 rounds of 45ACP. Either that of my Glock 9mm. If clothing dictates something smaller, I'll sometimes go with a 380, but I prefer not to, if I can help it. Here in MI, it can get 20 below zero in the winter. If you've got a heavy coat zipped up, it's awful hard getting to your pistol on your belt, in a hurry. THAT'S when I like to carry a snubbie in the coat pocket. You can have it in your hand and nobody will know.....and you can fire it multiple times right through your pocket, if you have to.
  10. Not sure if it qualifies as "planning to buy", since I already paid for it, but haven't gotten it yet, but I'll be getting a 22 Kestrel suppressor from Huntertown Arms once the Efile comes back approved. Like Juggs, I'm thinking a SBS or SBR will be next. Probably Form 1 that though.
  11. Man, that's sweet. I played Flamenco up through my teens, with my Dad as my teacher (he was REALLY good). Unfortunately, when I was 19, a shotgun blast went through my right palm and took away most of my dexterity (and almost took the entire hand). I still love listening to it.
  12. I just got off the phone with my Class 3 dealer. He's been running into the same problems with Efile. Hopefully he'll be able to get my NFA Trust's form 4 to go through. This is my first NFA item.
  13. Old thread, I know...... The Wife bought me a Lee 1 oz slug mold for my Birthday and I already had a Lee lead casting pot. I'm interested in replacing the 1 1/8 oz birdshot from Federal bulk 12 ga rounds with a 1 oz Lee slug. Not sure what velocity I'll get with the slug being slightly lighter though. Anyone got experience here? One thing I recently found was a guy on youtube that makes shell preppers (mainly for people wanting to make wax slugs). He makes these wooden blocks that cut the very tip off the shell, so you can access the shot. One of the more intereting designs he mak
  14. Finally bit the NFA bullet. Got my NFA Trust notarized, paid for my 22 Kestrel suppressor and started the paperwork. Now the wait begins.

The wife said she was a little annoyed, but it was money I had saved up and not from any ear marked for bills.

  15. My Wife is in the same boat with not being able to find a comfortable grip with Glocks. She's looking to get an M&P Shield soon. I know that doesn't help you, since it's striker fired, but still, you're not alone on the grip issue. I'm afraid my experience with non striker DA/SA is only limited to the M9/92 and the Sig. I never cared for either, personally.
  16. I don't know if anyone here knows the answer, but can a 7.62x39 be reloaded with a heavy bullet to get subsonic stats similar to a 300 BLK? Just curious how that might allow for CQB range while suppressed (and probably indoors), yet you could go back to the full power loads for outside.
  17. I have the all metal SUB-9, and I love it. This is an older pic of it: I've since added a small tri-rail onto the barrel, and cut out the handguard to accomodate. There's also a rail along the bottom to attach a Magpul AFG. Eventually, I might do something different with the sights and have the barrel threaded for a suppressor (though, being a blowback, there would be a lot of gas coming out the ejection port then). Yes, I know the grip is missing in the picture. I'm personally not as interested in a 223 or 5.56 with a barrel under 16", as I feel you lose too
  18. So, if I have a SBS that's under 26" overall, it will be legally considered a pistol under MI law....... and as such, with a license to carry concealed, can be leagally carried CONCEALED just like any other pistol. Interesting. I'd STILL carry the federal registration with me, even if it's under 26".
  19. I'm not sure if that's the case or not. If so, then a MAC-10 or any other full auto that's under 26" couldn't be put in a trust. I THINK that once it's an NFA item, it's not subject to the same rules. I'm no expert though. I have met a guy that had one of those AOW Mossberg 500 "serbu" shotguns that was through his NFA trust though. It was DEFINITELY under 26".
  20. Now I gotta decide if I want to SBR my Draco or SBS my Saiga 12 first. Hmmmmm....
  21. I've been running one almost since they came out, and once set, I haven't had a single issue either. I've only taken it apart once to see if it needed to be cleaned. It really didn't look like it, but I did anyway. So, I'd say..... it couldn't hurt, but I find its internals are not prone to getting as dirty as the rest of the gas system.
