  1. This is a drop-in kit for your receiver and will not change the 'barrel' length of your Saiga. Shotguns must maintain an 'overall' minimum length of 26 inches before encountering additional legal restrictions. 18" barrel minimum 26" overall minimum If you own a Saiga factory 18" barrel (like myself), you may have to consider adding a barrel extension or modifying the butt of the kit to keep your shotgun the appropriate overall length; Chances are good that this kit will modify a 18" barreled receiver into a 26" overall length package, but I'm not 100% on that. BTW/FYI - $300
  2. Here's a link to the video on the CBS website; http://cbrps.com/website_copy.avi The video is for a different rifle system kitted by CBS, but you can see the same trigger linkage as in the thread linked below (an owner review of a CBS SKS kit). http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=228060 The owner review said the trigger pull no worse than the original trigger (SKS triggers aren't fantastic), and there appeared to be no 'flex' in the linkage rod/plate when operating the new trigger. I imagine the trigger pull will be something close to the quality of your ori
  3. ..Been researching this kit and just saw this image of the Saiga-12 'Spike' today on the CenterBalanceSystems website. Looks like the 'Spike' prototype might be a little more accommodating for under barrel accessories (no pic yet of the optional barrel shroud depicted in sketches). Overall I was only slightly disappointed by the C.B.S. trigger linkage system (which they illustrate in a video on their site for another rifle type), and I was hardly surprised. It seems direct trigger-to-trigger linkage is employed in every C.B.S. product example I could find (which makes sense when produ
  4. Be careful with tapco's FCG is you're converting a saiga-12 or other shotgun saiga. Mine inserted right into the receiver, but I had to grind some meat off bottom of my g2 double hook FCG from tapco to enable it to move. probably would have been the same with many FCG's not made specifically for the saiga-12.
  5. I bought a standard 'donkey dick' PG from tapco, can't remember if it came with nut and screw, can't say about SAW grip. US made FCG and stock should be enough by my count, you should be able to use factory/imported mags in it too. If you only changed the stock (IE: the buttstock with pistol grip attached that does not require moving FCG in receiver), then you'd be safe with domestic mags, but 3 parts over with factory mags. You should be fine with what you got there.
  6. check this one out it looks like it might be a little easier to fit to the 308 http://www.tufforce.com/AK_Mounting_System...ard_System.html will either of these mounts for 'oversize barrels' fit an Saiga-12?
  7. If I can find a kit or clone that I can mill out to fit on my saiga-12, I'll see to it that it's a HDW home defense weapon. I get what you're saying, it's not designed for long range applications, but neither is a shotgun. Still looks like a bitch to zero, I hear similar things about FAMAS (never used one though). Think I should PM him about this? I really like the look of the buttplate and elevated sight more than anything else I've seen in the AK bullpup catagory. Contenders based on appearance would be: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...tar-M_REMOV.jpg <
  8. Hey there, just bought a second factory saiga-12 about a month ago, and am looking to convert this shotgun to a groza/groza-clone platform. If you're not familiar with groza, these pics: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OC-14_Groza http://pookieweb.dyndns.org:61129/Groza/images.htm <--- probably the best set of pics I've found yet for groza. http://pookieweb.dyndns.org:61129/Groza/gr...ery/Image15.jpg <--- especially this one http://sleekupload.com/uploads/groza_2.jpg <--- (GRR, I really don't like linking to gaming site's, but here's some 3d rendering of a groz
  9. Cobra! working on a year now since my last post in this topic. Not meaning to rush, not wanting to beg; but I gotta know what year it'll be when I stuff this item into my own christmas stocking. I hate henpecking folks, but, Anything to report on this project?
  10. Dude, you sound like a pussy-liberal, commie-democrat bitching about "Windfall" profits. Once you do your first conversion you will quickly realize that "so little work" will be out of your freaking vocabulary. :killer: :killer: :killer: :killer: :killer: :killer: :killer: :killer: my first conversion took 1+1/2 hours at the bench merely to swap stock, add P.Grip, relocate and modify the FCG (tapco mfg, for an .30Rus AK47 - needed some grinding to fit), another 1/2 hour to make a safety stop. Mechanically sound, operates with no more interference or jamming than before conve
  11. I apologize for using that term, you are clearly correct. I will retract that word from the document, it is not a loophole.
  12. The short answer is; yes, but no. The long answer is; possibly, depending on which statements (which has been very nebulous) is being applied to thumbhole stocks. The thumbhole stock is a previously debated topic; There are two letters from the BATF I have read on this subject, one that interprets it as a device WITHOUT having a pistol grip, and one that identifies thumbhole stocks as, yes, possessing a pistol grip feature. It sounds like you already possess the following information, but I have included it for completeness. As you will see below (and are probably already w
  13. This is a bit off topic, but since people are tossing around 'broken gun' stories, here's mine from my early twenties; I have a .32cal colt 1903 automatic that my great-grandfather carried when he was a judge for a traveling oil hunting camp close to a hundred years ago in texas. It stayed in a bag for as long as I could remember hanging on my grandfathers (his son's) workbench. When my grandfather passed away I inherited the bag of parts and.. well... It's an awful story: when I assembled it I put in the spring housed underneath the backstrap incorrectly and the first time I loaded
  14. mmm, no. It's damn ugly, I'll give you that; But the weapon in the OP is so hideous, I want to write to some kind of humane society and have it euthenised.
