  1. Does anyone know if there are any Us made pistol-grip style foregrips made that would fit on a Saiga and if so, would that count as one of the US parts neede for the conversion? Thanks.
  2. Damn. I was hoping I could just do the conversion a little bit at a time, and still be able to use the gun without having to buy all the parts at once.
  3. I know I need to get a US made FCG to get the parts count up....but for the time being will I be able to put it back in until I get the US made FCG? I just want to know if the part will operate the same... I DO plan on getting the US made FCG but not for a while... I know it will be illegal until I get the right number of US made parts...But theoretically, can I use the old ones until I get the new ones? Thanks.
  4. I bought a Hi-Point 9mm carbine a couple months ago for around $200...what a ripoff! It has too much plastic on it for my liking. The one I bought was totally unaccurate. I was shooting from a bench and it never hit the same spot twice. I didn't really like the idea that you couldn't get more than a 10 round magazine for it and I also did not like that way the mag locked into the gun. It just didnt feel like it was secure enough to me. Since I'm right-handed I didn't like the bolt handle being on the left side of the gun. I'd say save your money and put it toward a Saiga or converting it if yo
  5. But can I put the pistol grip on, then put the original FCG back in until I get the new, US made parts? I realize that I need to move the FCG forward like in sheik's conversion instructions. I guess what I'm asking is, after I remove the original FCG, remove that steel plate on the bottom and put the pistol grip and trigger guard back on, can I put the FCG that came out of the gun back in and make it work until I get the US made parts? I know this would be illegal but I still want to be able to use the gun until I finally get all the parts that I need to complete the conversion and make it leg
  6. I was wondering about the pistol grip conversion. I am going to convert my rifle but I'm only going to buy a couple parts at a time, since I don't have too much money. If I buy the pistol grip and grip nut and screw for now, can I use the stock fire control group until I get the US made conversion parts, or are they different in some way? Any help is appreciated. Thanks
  7. What exactly is a bolt hold open follower? Is it a drop in part or is there cutting or drilling that has to be done? I'm looking for something that will hold the bolt open automatically after the last round. Also, what sites on the web might have these followers or aftermarket parts? Thanks.
  8. I was out shooting my Saiga today and I made a totally careless mistake. I was using a 30 round AK magazine and I miscounted my shots. After waht I thought was the last round, I un-shouldered the rifle and had the muzzle pointed up in the air (hence the carelessness I mentioned) and I accidentally pulled the trigger and fired a round way out into god knows where. Is there a way to mod the gun so that the bolt stays open after the last round like the SKS rifles do? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
  9. Thanks GOB thats what I was looking for.
  10. Does anyone know where I can find an exploded view of the Saiga 7.62x39?Thanks.
  11. I might just try your idea for making a feed ramp. I made mine out of schedule 90 gray PVC pipe. I cut it to fit in there and tapered the front edge so the bullets won't catch. It's held in by hot glue and I've put about 70 rounds through it and it works fine but if that ever breaks I will use your method. Thanks for the idea.
