  1. I would lose the front grip and definitely pull the bipod or at least move it to the handguard.
  2. You know what Arfcom says? This thread is useless without pics.
  3. Any troubles with safety function?
  4. Anybody used on of these yet?
  5. If the diameter at the base was sufficient (and it appears to be quite large) you could weld shut the existing pin slot, file to shape, drill out the ID at the rear ofthe brake to the Saiga's diameter at the sight base, drill two new pin slots, recut the slot for the correct width of the sight base and install... Anybody tried it? I bet a quality press fit/pin on muzzle device made especially or the .308 Saiga would sell well.
  6. SirLaffy, http://www.centerfiresystems.com/index.asp...amp;ProdID=1632 or http://www.classicarms.us/ this is a better price if you are going to have one shipped. Now the question is are you goign to convert....to put in a new FCG you have to move the trigger group forward, and thus that factory pistol grip is no longer going to work for you. so that is sort of wasted money to buy one with it if you are just going to convert it. now consider that with the gun i linked above you can convert as much as you like, or simply put in a new gas piston and slap in the surefir
  7. Gold Medal Match is target ammo, it is inappropriate for hunting. It would be okay for military use or police DM applications where expansion is less of an issue, but basically it is meant for Service Rifle/CMP match shooting.
  8. Is that rifle as pictured lega to use with the Surefire magazines?
  9. That thing is going to be pretty long in the shortest position, kind of making the extended positions useless and negating the value of an M4 style stock. The folding mechanism appears to be mostly plastic which generally hasn't always been a good thing in the past. Plus, in my subjective opinion, that thing is ugly. If you really want a folding M4 stock on an AK, you might have to pony up the money to Ace and do it right. However, that would involve cutting your tang off, so you better be sure thats what you want.
  10. I would say 2.5 through 4.5 MOA. Maybe a little better if you found a quality load that your rifle really liked. Effective for hunting out to 300, effective for social purposes beyond that. Not a match rifle but a good utility rifle. I think it would shine in a lot of the applications that people traditionally use the .30-30 lever actions for. I see reports on the net of Saiga .308s shooting 1 MOA, but I am pretty skeptical.
  11. I wanted a scope that was reasonably well made, and had features that are well suited to the rifle and didn't cost more than I could justify for the Saiga. I opted with a Bushnell 2-7 variable Fullfield II. It's around $300+ in a gunshop, under $300 online. The 2-7 is a good variable range, it has decent glass, it's pretty tough, it has target knobs under the large threaded covers and it looks good on the rifle.
  12. I recently purchased a 16" Siaga .308. I know the common approach is to convert these to a pistol grip "AK" configuration and that was my plan too. Before sinking a lot of work and money into the rifle I took it out to make sure it would shoot straight. I was pleasantly surprised that it shot pretty well. I won't post MOA specifics because I think that they are meaningless on the internet with all the BS that gets posted. I will say that the accuracy is really good for a rack grade service rifle and a lot better than I expected from what is basically a bigger AK. I also found that
