  1. When I push it it only goes down maybe a millimeter, no more. I don't have the drum in front of me but IIRC the spring for the button is visible for a few millimeters. Feels like the button might be stuck, but I'm not sure because this is the first time with the drum and this is as far as I've gotten. When you push the button, does the round middle piece on the front of the drum protrude from the face of the drum?
  2. Got this 75 round drum, it's the kind with the latched back cover. I have instructions for it for loading and unloading, care, cleaning, etc...but the problem I'm having is this. I loaded it up just to hand cycle a few rounds to see how it goes and then decided to open it up and dump the rest of the rounds out. The wheel spun around and so now the follower is at the end of the snail trail so I go to push the center button in order to get the follower back to the starting position so I can load it again and leave it unwound. Well the center button won't push in like it did before I loaded i
  3. It does have the gas adjustment knob screwed in doesn't it? Not sure what you mean but I don't have my 12 in front of me (I'm at work, what can I do ) I bet the answer to your question can be found in your owners manual.
  4. Got my MD20 today and coincidentally my AK 75 rounder arrived too! Just my luck though it's my day off so I had to make a trip into work to pick it up anyhow. Goes to show the excitement these damn things generate for us "grown folks"!
  5. What I'm curious about is why in California, home to 1,608,000 Russian/Americans, why is one of Russia's, at one time, top exports, illegal to import?
  6. Will any AK lower HG retainer (or ferrule as I've heard them called) work for Dinzag's "customer supplied" bolt on HG retainer? I sent him a message but I'm a product of this internet generation and need to know yesterday http://dinzagarms.com/saiga_762x39/akbor1.html
  7. Unless you can figure a way to get this to work: But that looks like it might be kinda awkward for trigger reach Come on newbs, look around the forums a bit! (I say this only because I've just recently shed my newbness, kinda like in 8th grade we used to make fun of the "sevies")
  8. I can't wait to see the picts... Is there chrome pics yet?
  9. Give him $450...or $475 tops, what's 25 frog skins in the grand scheme of things? If you got to have that longer barrel get it since you found it. I like the .308 in the 21" and the 7.62 in the 16". But that .308 ain't cheap. Well unless you're trying to get a 12 right now, then the .308 price tag don't look so bad. Buying guns these days is like buying stocks ( NOT the kind you find between the receiver and your shoulder ) it seems.
  10. Seems like two different questions being asked now...shotgun vs. rifle. They both have their specific niche in a self defense situation. I'm not going to endanger my neighbors with a stray bullet from my 7.62. I'm going for the S12 with 10 rounds of buckshot ready to go when I hear a bump in the night. There's multiple threads concerning shotgun vs. rifle for many various reasons.
  11. Maybe Obama is smarter than even the people who think he's so smart think. Maybe he suspects an impending attack on America that he's not telling us about. Maybe he's got us all scared that he's gunna ban this stuff we love and so everybody's out buying up all the guns and charging more for them than ever before...so we're helping the economy and at the same time more and more people are armed to protect this land we rightfully call our home. Almost some kind of reverse psychology maybe...
  12. I went the opposite way you did, got a couple Saiga's and now I started getting into SKSs. Glad I did it in that order cause of the prices these days! the Saiga is extremely similiar to the SKS. Basically if you know SKS, Saiga becomes easier than common sense.
  13. I'm still curious about the ammo tax...they justify the gas tax for department of transportation expenses I think and not sure about the cigarette tax justification (I don't smoke but I do drive a V8). Does the ammo tax fund the ATF or what?
  14. Reminds me of the scene in Goodfellas when the young Ray Liota gets busted selling smokes, if I remember right though they were from a hijacked shipment.
  15. What kind of tax do we pay with ammo anyways? I know what I hear on the news about taxes on gas and cigarettes being a certain percentage etc...but what's the figures on ammo, anybody know? Also, am I right the gas and cig taxes are per state? Does it matter that you don't pay tax when you order ammo online also?
  16. Get on the list when you can 'cause if there's a zombie outbreak there's no saying that a lot of the people on the list won't become zombies so that would bring the follow thru's down quite a bit, moving you ahead.
  17. The spot I go to used to have maybe 1 other group there shooting when you'd arrive, hadn't been up since then and went a few days ago and predicted that with all the people buying guns that there'd be a bunch of people there, sure enough there was. Bout 4 different groups of people. I'm sure a lot are just trying there new stuff out for the first time. For every caliber I've got, except 7.62x39 and 12 guage, I've got my target cheap stuff and my good stuff which never gets shot, just stockpiled (luckily). But when I'm out shooting nowadays, I admit I think twice about dumping a mag just
  18. Looks good unless you're planning on converting the gun back to it's intended setup.
  19. Dinzag offers the FCG for converted guns and unconverted guns, or as his site shows, pistol grip or factory. The "Saiga x39, 223, 410, 20" pistol grip "FCGPGC1" is just a G2 Tapco but Dinzag has reduced the hammer width for you, so it'll clear the BHO. For my 7.62 Saiga conversion, that's the one I ordered and it went in smooth and feels great. I like the AK retainer plate too.
  20. The nice thing about the 12 is it's got a gas setting knob so you can set it on "2" and shoot that Walmart birdshot no problem. For the stuff with more umpfhph, it's setting 1. Easy as that. Mags are limited because not too many people make them. The 10 round AGP's are very popular and for good reason. Surefire is coming out with a 12 round mag. And the MD Arms 20 round drum is also very popular also for good reason. The Wraithmaker drums have a really really really bad rep. The 8 round factory mags are like a fantasy of mine, I wish I could tour the battlefield in Russia and maybe fin
  21. You can get chokes, the barrel is threaded externally. Lots of topics on here about that, do a search and you will find answers. A lot of guys on here do the conversion themselves. A smith can do it easily and simply as you could do at home, but some smiths make it into a true masterpiece and it might be worth it to you for the premium price (like Tony from Tromix does amazing work). For the home conversion though, it only takes a drill, a dremel (or a metal file if a dremel isn't in your budget but trust me it's worth it), some punches, a vice can be handy too. Lots of guys do this
  22. 922 page, lots of other newbie topics can be answered if you look over these threads too: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showforum=65
