  1. I realize it would be a good investment IF I were to sell it after it became banned, which I know I wouldn't. I think my 7.62 has sufficient insurance coverage. I do want to go turkey hunting...or at least that's a convenient excuse. My girlfriend said she clean and cook the turkey all by herself, alls I'd have to do is shoot it, good deal huh? Ahh...the temptation!
  2. I've got one 7.62 conversion under my belt and I've been wanting both of these but my salary will only permit one. I think both the CCW permit and import "evil" looking guns will be banned. CCW/handgun would give me more protection when I'm outside of my home but a Saiga 12 is the ultimate SHTF weapon. The angel on my shoulder says I should invest in energy stocks (he's a business savvy angel) since oil, coal, and gas are incredibly cheap. All 3 deals are likely to be gone soon so what do YOU think?
  3. Zombies don't sit and wait for you to swap out your melted handguard. Not all of us have hundreds of rifles and missile launchers like you, some of us are...less endowed
  4. One of the people that rated the choate handguards said that they still have melted plastic on their barrel that they can't remove. If I had 10 AKs I wouldn't mind but this is my one and only gun the only thing standing between me and hordes of zombies, everything has to be perfect!
  5. You can either buy a press-on lower handguard retainer ($52.00) or a bolt-on lower handguard retainer ($92). From what I hear you have to do a lot of work to get the press-on to fit properly and the bolt-on just screws into place and holds the handguard more securely then the press-on. Gun parts really aren't cheap at least in this tiny niche of the market. http://www.dinzagarms.com/saiga_762x39/saiga_762x39.html
  6. -1 for being $92! It was $79ish when that post was made. The price has gone up due to material for making the bolt-ons becoming hard to find. What? Steel?
  7. I was just visiting Hawaii, I could only find one gun store and it was in Kaneohe. Do a lot of people have Saigas there? I bet you could convert them and sell them for a grip of cash on Craigslist (if that's even legal). Here's the original thread discussing how you would put it on. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showto...rt=#entry238576 They say you'd have to get the bolt-on handguard retainer for........$92!!! I really love those hanguards though... Just have to wait until enough in the bank to afford that. How thick is this adhesive? I guess I'd have to order the ha
  8. Master Molders are the way to go. They are less then Pro Mag and I've never heard a single complaint from anyone about them. I have two myself and will get more. They are also made in the US so it's extra compliance parts.
  9. What alternatives would that be? I wanna keep it black and evil, no wood, and this style is my favorite looking synthetic. What is this "heatshield material" you speak of? I wish there were other manufacturers that made the exact same style but a quality polymer version. Are there any?
  10. I wanted to finish up my conversion with black synthetic choate handguards. They really look bad ass, but the one person I could find on that posted something about them, shellshock, told me that they don't have a heat shield and are known for overheating. Can anyone validate this? If it does overheat, are there any other manufacturers that have the same style but with heat shields? Or is there a way to install a seperate heat shield underneath it to combat the heat? Any info would be appreciated!
  11. I carry a flash light with the batman insignia on it.
  12. Hey, they repealed the national 55 mph speed limit you gotta give'm respect for that!
  13. I guess they've chosen to tread lightly, which makes sense business wise, why risk a steady income all on a little add-on that would mess up their bulk of business. It would be cool if tromix or some other company could re-create it, I doubt its overly complicated. Its weird that they'd make it for the 5.56 and 5.45 round when the 7.62 is the one that really needs it. I mean would a 5.45 with a compensator really be that out of control?
  14. I tried searching for it on this site but failed to find anything. Why don't they have a Saiga with this gas compensation or Bar thingie, that would be kinda cool. I'd pay $100 more for the convenience of not buying a compensator, having a louder rifle, and most importantly threading the barrel. Any inside info on this matter??
