So I recently got a saiga 12 parts kit with everything but a reciever so what reciever do i need? Would i need an 1.5mm russian/romanian style rpk type or would a 1mm polish reciever be good for it? It looks like it bulges on the sides like a 1.5mm rpk style reciever but i wanted to be sure, also I wanted to verify that the rivet pattern is the same as the rpk if it is russian/romanian, or if it is still the 1.5mm reciever but follows the yugo rivet pattern for some reason. Sorry if it is a little hard to follow please ask any questions for more information.

Compared to the Saiga rifles, the primary dust cover on the shotgun receivers have a longer notch on side with the charging handle to allow for clearance of the ejected shells. The problem that I have seen with this is that the safety selector, when pushed upward to the "Safe" position, frequently travels well beyond the top of the receiver, only stopping after it begins to set underneath the dust cover. This can make it rather awkward and difficult to move the safety into the "Fire" position, even with a modified safety selector (like the Krebs Mark VI-S). I am thinking that possibly -
Hey guys, Just a quick question to the experts out here ... working on my Saiga .308 build, generally very happy with the rifle. I am curious though ... while researching specs there is some debate about the receiver thickness versus the VEPR model. Some claim it has a heavy barrel, some claim it doesn't, some claim the receiver is as thick as a VEPR, some say it is a standard 1 mm receiver thickness.
