  2. Hello everybody, I was just hoping to get some advice regarding a recent purchase I made. I just bought a Saiga 5.45 and a very nice Kalinka Optics POSP 6X scope for it. I haven’t converted the rifle at all and have been using exclusively soviet milsurp spam can ammo. I am relatively new to shooting and realize that I am shooting an AK, but I have seen much tighter groups at 100 yards from others online. I have tried weighing my gun down as much as possible with sand bags at the range to prevent any movement and being as steady on the trigger as possible, but I haven’t achieved accuracy a lot of people show off on youtube for their Saiga 5.45’s and I am wondering why. The groups I got today at 100 yards were about as big as a spread out hand for the better ones (all over the black). Maybe like 5-6 moa I think. Here are things I believe may be causing it: 1. Tigger is factory and has not yet been converted to pistol grip and nicer trigger. 2. I am a new shooter. 3. Surplus still isn’t the best (though nothing else is really as available and not as cheap) 4. Shooting the gun hot. (I started at the 50 yard range (still only got 1.5-2 moa at 50) and shot at least 60 rounds through the gun before going to 100 yards). 5. Anything else??? I know that Saigas aren’t tack drivers by any means, but I was really hoping for it to perform better. Do you think it is my fault or my Saiga’s/ammo’s? It says that it shoots 136 mm at 100 m in the manual it came with. How is that? Is it just the luck of the draw to get an accurate Saiga and I didn’t luck out? Thank you so much!
  3. Hey... Looking for a reasonable tactical vest to use at the range. I have my eyes on a leapers UTG tactical vest that has pretty high reviews on the web. Anyone own one or know of a comparable one thats around the 60$ range? Again, its just for range shooting to hold 30 rd. ak mags and a .40 cal pistol w/ mags. Thanks.
  4. Really like the Porkypine & the Warthog... nice finishing touches on my Saiga build. Cameron... Your part quality is TOP NOTCH. Really impressed by the fit & finish of these components. Chad

  6. From the album: cpk-photos

What you would see when rotating the mirror facing up... With some practice, it's possible to hip-fire and still have your red dot so you're not firing blind. Setup = LaRue Tactical with Docter II reflex sight + Anglesight

What you would see when holding the gun like normal, looking straight through the optical path. Setup = LaRue Tactical with Docter II reflex sight + Anglesight
  8. I've had this gun for about 3.5 years. Bought it for 642$. The Saiga 12 has been my FAVORITE gun to shoot! I just converted this gun and this weekend I get to break it in agian! I moved the trigger group myself. But since I used the carolina shooters kits it was no problem. All I had to do was drill out the 3 rivets and everything else just bolted in. Anyone can do this. I shot a lot of video of the conversion and plan on putting it up on youtube. I used the tapco stock simply because I wanted this to be a simple DIY project. I didn't want to pay anyone else to mod my gun. The tapco stock just bolts on with no modifications to the reciever necessary. Here's what I did: Tapco g2 modified trigger kit from carolina shooters bolt on trigger guard from carolina shooters Modified bolt hold open from carolina shooters Tapco T6 stock Tapco saw grip UTG rail from cheaperthandirt GTI door breach break extended charge handle axis pin retaining plate (love this) Botach tactical 2 point sling http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDYxplweJrY http://youtu.be/wmlWe25R4eA
  9. I'm a relatively new firearms enthusiast (~2 years) and well new to Saiga rifles and shotguns, AK-47/74 variants, and the conversions between the 2. I was hoping to solicit some advice based on what little I know of these platforms. I've been looking at the Saiga-12 models and found this at Atlantic Firearms. It seems to be this model from Legion USA. I find the magwell and the LRBHO features attractive. I want to know if these are reasonable prices for Saiga-12 with these options. I've been looking at some of the custom items at the sponsor sites, but I do not know enough to know if there is one that is better for the money or what conversions are most desirable and why. That's where you expert types are needed. Similarly at that Legion USA site, I found their Saiga conversions in AK-74 and AK-47 platforms (currently out of stock). IT seems like the comparable rifles are the Arsenal SGL21 & 31 series rifles. I've learned enough to know that the SGL's were touched by Legion as well. I know they should be built on identical Russian imports, but I've heard that the parts that Arsenal uses may be of higher quality? That confuses me a bit as Legion, at least the Russian parent, has a hand in the SGL models, so how are these better than the the Legion USA models unless the American shop uses sub-par components? Again, I need your expert opinion on price vs.quality. Short version: Ideally I'd like to get a Saiga-12 and a 7.62 Saiga rifle, but I'm lost as to which models are the best for the money and where to get them. Let my education begin. . .

  16. Hello, New to the forum and figured I would start out by testing the waters to see if anyone has a Chaos Porkypine available. Looking for one that is either new in the box or just in really nice shape. Will pay well for one... I see they've been going for $100 to $150. I don't mind spending $150 to $200, depending on condition. Thanks! Chad

  20. Dude, I love doing business with those guys. We aren't just customers to Keith and Cliff - we're all partners in a collective centered around technical innovation, firearm education and personal/professional growth. They have the skills, knowledge and connections that allow me to do whatever I want with any firearm that I want to buy, build or customize. Now with their brick and mortar storefront, it's icing on the cake. Awesome to deal with, an honor to associate with - Thanks for making me feel special when I come around. See you guys at the top.
