  1. Prior to the metamorphosis... And now, the beautiful butterfly Just thought some people might be interesting in seeing something other than the stock photos on Arsenal's website. The triangle folder K-var sells works like a charm. Almost too tight at first, but after working it a few times, it's feeling identical to the stock on my 106CR, which I was highly impressed by. I'll answer any questions anybody has.
  2. I have a vortex strikefire on an AR and I want to use it on my saiga 5.45 with the TWS dog leg rail. Vortex makes 30mm rings in a few different sizes, obviously low to pretty dang high. My question is will the "low" rings give enough clearance for the front of the optic? I'm not concerned with co-witness. Their site states: LOW - "height of 0.83 inches (21mm) from the base." MEDIUM - "height rings are ".97" / 24.6mm". I couldn't find if this has been covered anywhere. Like to get low as possible without the front bell of the optic touching. Thanks in advance.
  3. I recently came into some 5.45 magazine bodies that were stripped of the internals. I have picked up some floorplates and followers and have ordered the springs.I have not been able to locate the floorplate retainers. Anyone have any ideas on where these might be found or some cheap saiga 5.45 or .223 mags cheap to butcher for parts ? Thanks in advance.
  4. looking to buy a saiga rifle or an ak. please let me know what you have. looking to spend around 650$ or more depending on what it is and how many mags, etc. thank you

  6. Hello everybody, I was just hoping to get some advice regarding a recent purchase I made. I just bought a Saiga 5.45 and a very nice Kalinka Optics POSP 6X scope for it. I haven’t converted the rifle at all and have been using exclusively soviet milsurp spam can ammo. I am relatively new to shooting and realize that I am shooting an AK, but I have seen much tighter groups at 100 yards from others online. I have tried weighing my gun down as much as possible with sand bags at the range to prevent any movement and being as steady on the trigger as possible, but I haven’t achieved accuracy a lot of people show off on youtube for their Saiga 5.45’s and I am wondering why. The groups I got today at 100 yards were about as big as a spread out hand for the better ones (all over the black). Maybe like 5-6 moa I think. Here are things I believe may be causing it: 1. Tigger is factory and has not yet been converted to pistol grip and nicer trigger. 2. I am a new shooter. 3. Surplus still isn’t the best (though nothing else is really as available and not as cheap) 4. Shooting the gun hot. (I started at the 50 yard range (still only got 1.5-2 moa at 50) and shot at least 60 rounds through the gun before going to 100 yards). 5. Anything else??? I know that Saigas aren’t tack drivers by any means, but I was really hoping for it to perform better. Do you think it is my fault or my Saiga’s/ammo’s? It says that it shoots 136 mm at 100 m in the manual it came with. How is that? Is it just the luck of the draw to get an accurate Saiga and I didn’t luck out? Thank you so much!
  7. Used Ultimak gas tube/scout rail -$65 shipped SOLD AK gas tube and handguard set -$30 (sold as package, gas is used but in good condition, the handguard top is a bulgy surplus and the bottom is new off a sagia 5.45) PP gift, no shipping outside CONUS.
  8. New to the forum. Anyone have any thoughts on best way to comply with a 30in OAL when doing a Kushnapup in 5.45? From my numeral crunches you start with 37in (IZ-240), Kushna says it chops that down 13.5in so you're at 23.5in yikes! Any ideas on ways to get to the 30in line?
  9. My first saiga conversions with pics before and after. Constructive criticism welcomed, I know I can't please everyone. Looking to add an akm front sight block and slant brake to the 7.62 (wood) and ak74 fsb with zig zag brake to the 5.45 (dark earth polymer) also I'm thinking about switching the stock on the 5.45 to a dark earth 6 position stock crapco perhaps. I just don't like the finish on the fixed stock that is currently on it right now. 13. WTB Soviet 5.45 Bakelite mags, do not care if they are tulas or izzy. Looking in used/decent condition. Please PM me for what you got, and sent any photos to dash_endova@yahoo.com. Be aware that I have cross posted this add else where, and unless I update this as withdrawn, I'm still willing to hear an offer for some of the mags. No plum, EG, or bulgarian please. I already have enough of them.
  14. So have any of you used this http://www.k-var.com/shop/product.php?productid=17815&cat=281&page=1 bullet guide in your conversion? What size hole did you drill and tap, what screw did you use to attach it? I would really like to use that bullet guide because it is profiled to guide the bullets in from both sides of the magazine.
