Hello everyone. this is my first post. I recently purchased an IZ132 from a Dunhams in PA and looking to do a conversion. I cant seem to find the answer to my question in multiple forums or google. Is the bayonet lug supposed to be on the front sight post or gas block? Also does the cleaning rod free float or is it attached somehow? Basically i want to replace the gas block and front sight post with something more "original" and am confused on what I should be purchasing, and where to purchase it. I just ordered a new Russian vented gas tube. This is my first AK and I am not really that familiar with them. I'm just looking for some direction. Also it seems that most parts are out of stock online. Anyone have a lead on where conversion parts can be purchased? I have access to a shop press and assorted tools. I'm going to be pressing on an original style lower handguard retainer and plan on pressing on a different gas block so I do not plan on using one of the retainers that have a screw in the top. Can't seem to find the retainer in stock anywhere. Thanks in advance from Ohio. And its a 7.62X39 if that matters
I had an idea today and I wonder if anyone has tried it already. Everyone has seen the shark breaks and such that make a muzzle device such as a break or flash hider double as a sort of pronged bayonet-like weapon. I was wondering if anyone has grinded down the Vortex Flash Eliminator like so: My concern is that it would hinder the flash hiding ability. This would be unacceptable. In addition to grinding down the prongs to form sort of edged teeth prongs (probably sharpened), I was also wanting to grind down the extra thick neck because it seems thicker, and therefore heavier, than necessary. Tell me what you guys think.
Hello all you happy people! I have some stuff taking up space that I need to sell. I was going to fund a conversion with the proceeds, but as the title states, times are tough in the stable! I'll ship to the UNITED STATES only. Payment via DISCREET Paypal. A gift is great.....no fees me thinks. I ship via USPS flat rate Priority. I ship once (maybe twice) a week due to my work schedule. My prices are pretty firm but not etched in stone. PM me if you have a serious offer. I might consider trades, but as I said, I need gas money!! Forum rules apply. Thanks for looking!!!! few more...
So I have a IZ-332 model I converted and put some nice red furniture on. Then I got a WASR for a different project and it had a redish handle bayonet included, bonus. I have a bayonet lug, but I am assuming the sides have been ground enough, the bayonet doesn't lock. I have the rifle 'on display' so sitting there the bayonet looks nice, you move it and off it falls. Thought and found a way to fix the problem. I used a 'rare earth magnet' about the size of a PEZ candy, and slipped it onto bayonet in groove on bayonet, and position to be next to lug space. There some stell there, so it sticks to bayonet just fine. Slipped bayonet on rifle and felt a nice grab. Now a I can point the barrel straight down, shake and bayonet stays in place! Not strong enough to use aggresively, but works great for display safety!
