  1. Well I finished my AK54r conversion. I had some issues along the way and I will outline them. Some are still unresolved others have been overcome and I will share these below. I have yet to fire the rifle, I will try that next weekend and give an update at that time. Overall the look is fairly close to what I had in mind. I might use a different muzzle device after I experiment with different models. The Romanian gas tube has a different finish, so I might hit it with some engine paint and see how that looks. The Romanian gas tube I used required a lot of dremiling to make it fit. I acci
  2. GUYS, WHEN I RECEIVED THE TWO CSS FORENDS FOR MINE AND A FRIENDS 'X54R VEPRS, IT WAS CLEAR THAT A RELIEF CUT WOULD HAVE TO BE MADE FOR THE TENON TO CLEAR THE UNDERSIDE OF THE FRONT TRUNNION AND SNUG-UP AGAINST THE FRONT OF THE RECEIVER. SEE BELOW: LEFT SIDE VIEW FROM THE END OF THE TENON, YOU TAKE .200 OFF THE TOP SURFACE, AND CUT FORWARD .217 TOP VIEW END VIEW NO REMBRANDT HERE, BUT AS THEY SAY, ONE PICTURE IS WORTH 1000 WORDS. AS WITH THE ONE I FITTED TO MY VEPR, I'LL PROBABLY HAVE TO TAKE A NEEDLE FILE AND TRIM .002-.003 FROM EITHER SIDE OF THE T
  3. GUYS, DOES THIS MAKE ANYONE ELSES LITTLE HEART GO PITTY-PAT?? 45-70 IN THE 'X45R VEPR PLATFORM. OPEN UP THE BOLTFACE, OR JUST FLATFACE IT A `LA THE S-12 MACHINE OFF THAT LIP ON THE BREECHFACE AND JUST COUNTERSINK IT FOR THE CASE RIM (I REALLY THINK THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE FOR THE 'X54R, BUT NO ONE ASKED). WE HAVE PEOPLE ON THE FORUM THAT MAKE MAGAZINES. MILL THAT SHOULDER IN THE MAGWELL A BIT MORE FORWARD FOR THE NEW MAG. THE 'X45R AND THE UPPER END LOADS FOR THE 45-70 RUN ABOUT THE SAME CHAMBER PRESSURES, AS I RECALL, SO NO ISSUES THERE.
  4. GUYS, NOTHING FANCY NOR PRETTY, JUST WHAT I DID TO MINE....... OTHER THAN FINALIZING THE EXACT PLACEMENT OF THE LIGHT AND LASER, IN RELATIONSHIP TO THE GRIP POD, I THINK I'M ABOUT DONE HERE. I MAY AT SOME POINT GO BACK WITH THE PARABELLUM ARMAMENT RAILED TOP COVER FOR THE OPTIC, FOR WEIGHT SAVING AND LOW-PROFILE, BUT THAT'LL BE AFTER I GET IT DIALED IN FOR ACCURACY. ORIGINALLY HAD THE KALINKA MOUNT ON IT, THEN WENT WITH THE PARABELLUM RAILED TOP COVER, AND AFTER A BIT, ACCURACY WENT TO CRAP. THINKING, INCORRECTLY, AS IT TURNS OUT, THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE PARABELLUM UN
