The sad state of our military.

This really could have hit home.

We live about 10 miles away from their base.

So many problems with environmental systems in our front line aircraft, this, the  F22 and more.

Not to mention parts problems causing maintenance nightmares and the cannibalism of other aircraft,

The parts problem is so bad for older aircraft that they're taking parts out of not just bone yards but out of museum aircraft.

And lets not talk about munitions shortages.

You can thank Bath House Barry for dismantling our military and filling the upper ranks with idiots.

Nothing new.  The fancier you make the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the pipes.  The MOST EXPENSIVE military project in WW2 for the USA was the Boeing B29 heavy bomber project.  More money time and effort spent than the Atomic Bomb Manhattan Project.

Yep.  The aircraft was a huge technological reach.  More brave crewman in that magnificent aircraft were lost in due to their own airplane than were lost due to the Japanese.   A very non forgiving environment: from takeoff until landing.  Long ago, far away. We tend to forget.

Trump is now our President.  Perhaps now we can make meaningful efforts to play catch up after YEARS of military neglect.  The F18 is just another example.  To fix our ongoing and many military draw down problems will take time, much effort and lots of tax money.

Yep.  Probably also totally insulated from the activities of daily living from the likes of us.  Or me.  The guy does not do his own cooking.  Or grocery shopping.  He does not put gas into his own car.  He does not even drive.  Nor make his own bed.  Or run a family monthly budget.

Sossss ... yep .... he does like big, flashy and expensive.  That is all he knows?  Whether or not it will work to our militarys advantage remains to be seen.  Does he have just the notion of throwing money at the problem?  Is his orientation on lots of important things just way out of line?

Do his handlers have a clue?  Or are they part of his problem with identifying with main stream Americans.  It does seems he likes big flashy and expensive military systems.  Is that good or bad?  Why buy one at 10 million each when you can buy 10 at 20 million each?  Is this good or bad?

Dunno.  But ... consider if Hillary had won.  Yikes!

"He kept his word so far"? That is a very selective memory. He kept his word about more things than I expected him to, but the man is a reflexive liar. Don't gloss that over just because the alternative was probably worse.

The bit in the article about other pilots getting brain hemorrhage from over-pressurized cabin bad enough to shatter the canopy is pretty horrifying.

Can the F18 fly low and slow with no canopy?  Aerial refueling with no canopy?  Just eject the thing?  Is this possible?    Switching historical gears here, the Wright B29 engine had a initial combat service life of .... ready for this .... 16 hours!  Yep.  One mission to Japan.   Things were that bad.  But ... there was a war going on.  My feeble failed point here is that shit has happened before.  The "Battle of Kansas" comes to mind.

So what is wrong with the F18?  It is a mature platform.  Is it a case of spare parts or is it a bigger problem?  Dunno.  Brave pilots.
