faststang90 18
the new one is a lot bigger. I'm trying to find a shop in Houston that can change it out the right way
Mullet Man 2,114
You can do it, if you have basic tools. All you need is a drill and bits, a hammer and either an AK gas piston rivet or nail of some sort to secure the new piston.
Veprz 94
the new one is a lot bigger. I'm trying to find a shop in Houston that can change it out the right way Thats the point brother! Its heavy duty and will hopefully be the last piston rod youll ever need!
faststang90 18
I found a shop to do it for 60.00 they said just give them a few days. the other places said it could be 6-8 weeks before they could do it and the other shop I called never called me back. if this doesn't work I think its time for a different gun. Veprz 94
If you decide to do it yourself heres some info on how to do it. Look through this thread, there is basically a tutorial with pics. Its written by the infamous "pauly" but it shows the installation of the hd op rod. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/71766-how-to-remove-gas-piston/ Dinzag has a pdf download on replacing piston/op rod on this page. http://www.dinzagarms.com/downloads/downloads.html Heres a AKbuilder vid on how to do it as well. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=S0hnyTzE2cw

faststang90 18
I picked the gun up today and it fired good. I put 5 rounds in it without a problem so I think its fixed. Edited June 7, 2018 by faststang90
Veprz 94
Nice! You would have a hard time breaking that HD piston rod.
faststang90 18
yeah the only problem i have now is the gun only wants to cycle is 3 inch shells and they dont make magianes for 3 inch shells thats not 100.00+ each. also i go to a indoor gun range so no steel shot/no slugs and a 3 inch lead shell i can use is hard to find.
