Forums seems to have little activity these days

Recommended Posts

Recently logged in after after being off the forums for quite a while. Sure seems like very little posting activity. Is the Saiga 12 that unpopular these days?

When they were cheap there was always someone buyying one and coming here to learn about it. Now, unless you find someone who doesn't know what they are selling for now, you can't get into the game for less than $800.  The Chinese copies aren't quite up to par and the Kalashnikov USA KS-12 copy is over $800. The rules have changed. When I first came around, you could find Saiga 12s for $500 easily.

It is a shame to see this site so inactive...  Your federal tax dollars at work.

It's a real shame things are drying up.

I learned so, so much from this site, from what to do myself to convert several S-12's, and also which vendors to trust, which parts and supplies I needed, who to rely on, and so forth.

Without all that, my Saiga 12 experience, and those who relied on me, would likely have been extra expensive, or a disaster!

I hope the US variant and clones are good enough to carry on the mag-fed semi-auto shotgun tradition created by the S-12, until the S-12 returns!

I didn't really grasp this statement at first, but I get it now. I think back about bouncing from forum to forum through the night. I think movie streaming services may have taken the place for me that fb would have for others. I'm a sucker for a documentary.

Face book is probably the most brain dead place to post anything regarding firearms, especially in association with an account providing your real name, family members/people close to you, your contact info and location data.

facebook is NOT your friend

Very true. Face book is impressive in how it has tricked people into voluntarily surveiling themselves. They no longer have to do detective work when you provide personal info, tag your location in photos, provide intel on who your family/close associates are etc.

Sounds harmless until they decide something you like or do is a "security threat". Things like firearm ownership, political affiliation, religous beliefs etc.

Not to mention it has promoted destruction of family and society. It has turned "keeping in touch" with family and friends into a impersonal process. Stop being lazy, pick up damn phone and call the people that are important you.

This has been and I feel still is one of the best forums out there.

The build information and help has been second to none.

The discussion and input have been real.

With the Russian ban on any ak style gun it limits the real reason this forum was started. It will evolve or not.

With that said ,many thanks to all who have helped to make our Saigas awesome.

Idk maybe people believe the myth of "S-12/V-12/clone market is dead". Doesnt make any sense considering the fact that there are many times more Kalashnikov based mag fed shotguns both on the street and for sale than ever before. Theres so many on the market and planned for release that its hard to keep up with all of them lol. They are mostly if not completely compatible with S-12/V-12 parts, mags and accessories. I guess the manufacturers of all these Kalashnikov based shotguns didnt get the memo that the "market is dead" lol.

I believe the biggest factor may be that most if not all Kalashnikov based shotguns (readily availible for sale) today come with most of the features you would want out of the box. No need to convert to PG like in the past and probably less sbs conversions due to "fire arm" versions and factory folders being availible.

I don't know if I would blame Facebook for having killed forums, but fuck them anyway.

im interested in the turkish clones.... they like all the rest are gonna have a glaring, deal breaking (for me at least) issue.... ill take the russki or usa anyday....

maybe that shotguns in general are kinda less "popular" for defense?  i cant argue with the capacity and lightness of an AR...

Speaking of shotgun for home defense I haven't seen any where they've use a shotgun, I see more they've use pistols and rifles but could you imagine even with the Saiga 12 with an 18.5 inch barrel and you had a hunting load like black cloud and some triple 000 buck there wouldn't be anything left of the perp in less than 20 ft encounter.

Thats the point, Decimate the threat in shortest amount of time and with the least amount of effort. Pistols are generally more accessible/easy to store/easier to handle due to size, within reason (factoring in caliber etc). Grandma might not be able to handle a 12g but she probably can handle a .22 pistol. A rifle would be ideal at longer ranges or vs multiple armed attackers. Shotguns traditionally have been extremely popular for home defense due to effectiveness in close quarters and availibility, the relatively new trend of braced rifle caliber pistols could inspire a shift in trend towards rifles.

That Federal LE Premium 9 pellet 00 Buck is no joke. A SWAT friend of mine had to use it on someone. It makes a mess of someone, a limb, etc. It is pretty much game over if there is a hit to a limb or to a vital area. Zero fight left in them.

What the mods do with a stuffed animal, a box of condoms and a pack of hand-warmers is their own business.

Stick with buck for home defense, and birdshot for birds.  I had to take down a rabid coyote with target loads, and it took 3 10 rnd mags to kill it.  It took 5 rounds to knock a leg out from under him and put him down, and another 25 to stop all movement.  Range 10 yards.

Well, at least they're powertrippin on spammers!
