jrobb45 0
I have a new(EAA) Saiga .223 and I'm getting a bolt override on the left hand cartridges only in the mag.. If I look at the rear of the mag. when it's loaded, more of the case head is exposed on the right side shells than on the left ones. The bolt feeds the right hand shells fine, but just barely picks up the left ones and then slips off and overrides them. the result is a jam where the bullet is barely in the chamber and bent at the throat of the case throat and the bolt is jammed(on top of) on the case about a half inch from the case head. I don't have a spare mag. at this time and I don't have picture taking capability. Has anyone else seen this problem, or dealt with it? jrobb

dinzag 31
+1 Scroll down the tech section. It works really well - I had the same problem. Many times they would feed fine until the last 8 rounds or so.
jrobb45 0
Thanks guys for the help. I epoxied the follower, surprisingly looks pretty close to the modified one in the tech section, letting it dry overnight and will try it tomorrow. Got to be better than what I had! jrobb

Make it look more like the schematic I put on there where both the left side and right side are perpendicular to the sides of the follower. With the lower one angled it tended to push the rounds to the outside wall of the mag... Glad to be of help!
inparidel 4
Search the forum for the Home Depot epoxy putty follower biuld-up fix. I posted the process, and it is the best I have seen/used.
Onepoint 0
I must be doing something wrong, because I don't have to modify followers for them to work on the Bulgy mags for me. I do have to dremel the mag so the followers will come all the way up, the ramp on the follower needs to ride on the lip, but once done they feed fine all the way through. jrobb45 0
I appreciate all the replies I've gotten on this problem. I'm going to have to redo the follower; I got some epoxy at Lowes, it went on great, but after 3 days it hasn't setup, so i took it off with mineral spirits. I picked up a new mag and it runs flawlessly. The one I'm working on never came up squarely in the mag body; appeared to be catching on something and I couldn't find the problem. This is my fourth AK platform gun, so tweaking them is not new to me, but for the life of me I can't see what is causing the follower to intermittently hang. I thought about putting a Robinson Arms follower in it, but it's slightly larger than the in side of the mag body. I'll get some different epoxy and work on it further. jrobb
