Mil adjustment question

Recommended Posts

Hi guys:

I have an SWFA fixed 12x scope. It has 1/10 mil adjustments. I'm going to sight-in at 100 yards.

My question is how many clicks are there for an inch at 100 yds. with this scope? The target has a 1" square grid pattern. Is the answer simply 10 clicks? If I'm an inch to the left of the bulls eye, do I simply click 10 times to the right?

Just making sure. I don't want to waste ammo.

Thanks.

Shoot 1st round ,then aim at bulls’ eye again. Then carefully without moving the guns position adjust the cross hairs on scope to line up with the location of the bullet hole. Shoot again and your scope will be centered or zeroed for mil adjustment. Now that the rifle is centered you can now use your mills for range finding and windage. You must know the size of your target to range find. You must also need to know your bullet drop in mils per meter or yards.  You are making it to complicated for yourself.

Have fun

I wrote to SWFA about this too. They responded with a chart that shows 1 mil is 3.6" at 100 yards. Therefore, 1/10 mil is .36"

This basically means 3 clicks will move 1".

( 3 x .36" = 1.08")

And unless your gun is truly locked in a shooting vise... You can't trust it to not move, either...

You will be fine. After all it is not the form of transportation but the journey.

Adapt, Improvise, Overcome.

And enjoy!
