Keep it original or mod

Recommended Posts

Well call me old fashioned but I like my saiga the way it is, I don't think I want to convert it, I have never done anything to any of my guns I keep them as original as possible, the only thing I wouldn't mind changing would be the stock and forearm and exchange it for a wood one that G3 is selling (no pistol grip). I think the wood would give it a nice touch. But 30 cap mag, pistol grip, scopes, I don't know about that, I know the saiga is not very pretty but it works good and it shoots well. Today I was at the range and a buddy took his AR15 it had more recoil than the saiga they had close to the same accuracy, the AR had a noise in the receiver, he paid much more than I did and I told him what I paid for mine, he didn't even know what saiga was. So I said "say hello to my little friend" It just reminded me I had a great rifle.

Yup, My S-223 was my reason for selling my AR. Put it to shame.

Converted it ranks among the best. Unconverted it has its own niche (kicking the life out of the Mini-14 in accuracy, reliability, and price).

I can do wooden stocks for either.

Advantages to converting it include better trigger, better balance, and shorter overall length. Unless the standard style better suits your shooting or hunting style, which it certainly does for some, I'd say convert. But like virginity, you can always change it later, but can't go back. Unless you buy a second one ;).
