ChileRelleno 7,074
I started this build for the New Year, planned a pistol and then to file for an SBR. Aero Precision Complete Barreled Upper, 5.56 / 10.5", threaded, FDE Aero Precision Stripped Enhanced Lower, FDE Maxim Defense CQB Pistol Gen 6 PDW Brace for AR15 - FDE Toolcraft Premium BCG, 5.56, Nickel Boron BCM Gunfighter charging handle, medium latch BCM Mod 3 pistol grip, FDE BCM PNT trigger group BCM LPK Not sure I like the BCM Mod 3 grip, it's very wide and not a good fit in my hand. Maybe I'll replace it with an Ergo, perhaps in black to even out my color contrast scheme. Took the optic of another AR so I can test fire this weekend. Going to mount a Vortex Spitfire 1X AR Prism Scope. Plan on replacing the A2 birdcage with a Noveske KX3 Flaming Pig. Once SBR'd I might replace the Brace rear end with Maxim's regular Stock rear end. Or just drop another $350. and get Maxim's CCS stock instead, and do away with the CQB/PDW's proprietary spring/buffer combo... We'll see. patriot 7,197
Nice looking gun. Once you use it, you may not want to change anything. I did a similar build, and got a 22 kit for it as well. It's a real pleasure to shoot with the 22 kit. Quick handling. I can keep poly targets rolling at distance with it no problem.

Thanks Patriot, Looking forward to a range day. But for sure a few changes still to made, e.g. KX3 Flaming Pig, Ergo deluxe grip (black) and an optic of it's own. patriot 7,197
KX3 Flaming Pig? What??? No single port brake? I guess you don't want the HUGE KABOOM! I swap brakes depending on what I feel like that day. Anything from a linear comp to a single port "loudener" type brake.
ChileRelleno 7,074
LOL, nope I want to push that noise and flash away from me. Next up is either building something like a Krink in 7.62x39, or my son really wants a flashy anodized Blue AR. Or maybe the .44mag lever action/ revolver combo I've wanted for the last decade. ChileRelleno 7,074
The Maxim Defense 'Hatebrake' looks interesting too. Booster+linear flash hider. But the Flaming Pig is just too cool, and works really well.

I built an AMD-65 awhile ago before pistol braces were available. That thing's fun. L O U D though. It competes with my 50BMG for noise. The AMD brake is designed to be loud. ChileRelleno 7,074
I do not like the the Maxim Defense Brace when shouldered 'incidentally', it bites into the cheek. It's gone. I really like the PDW design for it's compactness, counter balancing weight, ease of deployment and aesthetics. Yep, I admit it just looks cool too. Perhaps I'll SBR immediately and try Maxim's CCS stock. That or just stick with the BCM Mod 0 Sopmod stock I originally planned to use.
