I am interested in how those that have installed flash hiders or brakes on their .308 accomplished it.

Obviously, the fsb is right out to the end of the barrel and needs to be delt with - moved back, replaced or ???

Any pics or information appreciated.

I am most interested in the handling of the fsb - the threading is a sinch with a tat and die set - and I know where I can rent a set...

Two ways...

you either weld a brake to the FSB, making sure to index it properly...

OR...

You remove the FSB... turn the barrel down slightly so that it will fit back on 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch further back on the barrel, then thread the end sticking out past it...

Other than that.... well... Thats up to the imagination.

I'm in the process of fitting a Mini-30 muzzle brake to my 308. It requires a bit of grinding/filing/drilling, but it should work. Don't know how resiliant it will be, but I'll let you know.

Well, I'm really only interested in this for a carbine length rifle and mine is a 22" model - I haven't noticed any undue flash. And I was most curious about the barrel diameter, but I now see the muzzle would need to be turned down to either accept a new fsb/threaded muzzle and brake (like the Bulgy 24mm) or a brake that screws to the muzzle itself.

I wonder what the OD of the barrel is, compared to a 7.62x39 barrel? If it is close, you could get a standard FSB with the 14mm threads, knock out the pins in the Saiga and swap them.

Then any standard 14mm LH brake or FH would thread on...

Guess when I get my Saiga from the dealer next week, I'll do some measuring.

The OD of the Saiga .308 muzzle is way too big to allow for 1:14LH threading - it needs to be turned down quite a bit. I measured mine when I first got it. Same thing to accept a standard fsb.

Ok, guess I will ream the FH hider out a bit and weld it on.

I don't feel I need to stay true to AK-type threads. I don't plan on resale of any firearms I own. I want my barrel threaded for an HK-type FH.

I saw a G36 type FH that was meant for a 308 barrel, and I want it.
