MarkoJim410 0
Greetings to ALL! New owner of a saiga 410 and absolutely determined to make the most out of it. I live in Europe and apart from gun laws that make no sence, it is also super expensive and dificult to import any cool gun related accesories. That is why i started a few months ago the side-project of designing my own moder AK/saiga chassis. I started with a similar concept to MK3 Chassis System and the first protoype apart from a few corrections to some dimentions proved to be really sturdy and lightweight. BUT!!! I scrapped all this and started again! I wanted a better solution... ...one that: - Keeps the original AK spirit alive (that means it has to be durable and very easy to field strip for cleaning, something that most modernasation solutions seems to miss and you need 23 allen keys to unistall) - Easy to install in a any rifle with minimum work needed - Lightweight, my goal was to make it as liight as an unmodified saiga rifle (not introduce additioinal weight) - Free floating if possible (the first prototype is free floating). - Modular so you can add grips, accccesories, rails anywhere you need them and not be stuck with a heavy milled piccatinny handgurad that has piccatinny everywhere. - ABOVE ALL! CHEAP! Metal laser cutting has a lot of limitations is like making origami with sheet metal and not all geometries can be achieved! BUT if designed well is as strong as milled aluminum but at a fracction of the cost. The prototype below cost me below 50USD to make locally out of the best aluminum stock used for aerospace, guns etch (not including hardware like screws and painting but still it is a good starting point). That is why the new version will be something similar to the ''Arex AKB-15'' rifle. I am going to remove completely the gas tube and the dust cover to save weight and replace it with the new single solid upper piece that hugs the trunnion and mounts on the gasblock. It will be removable with a single pin and will not be mounted traditionally behind the spring to avoid any vibrations and to maintain zero. Please feel free to make any comments, questions and considerations that will help me make this better. I dont want to sell these and I plan to share the plans my project with the community. STAY TUNED FOR PART 2! P.S. This is my first post! I dont know all the categories so i hope my decision to post this on ''General Discussion'' was a correct one. Feel free to let me know if i need to take it down and re-post in a different category. 2ND P.S. I have been cast in a sea of ideas and try to make everything at once. I am curently also working on: -DIY left no-recipricating charging handle for the saiga -An adjustable gas block (similar to the ZASTAVA one) -A true bolt hold open mod you can SLAP by moding ak mags (similar to the AR design) And succesfully finished: -An easy mod for making the stocck saiga trigger group adjustable for pre-travel and reset-travel -A diy cheap AR STOCK adapter that screws directly on the original saiga stock screws.
