greatmoose 4
Got a US tapco gas piston for my .308 and noticed that it's almost a 1/4" longer than the stock piston. Is that going to be a problem, do I need to shorten the tapco, or can I leave it the way it is? Thanks, Edited May 23, 2006 by greatmoose
O.S.O.K. 0
If you screw this on and place the bolt carrier fully forward and there is no binding or the end of the piston doesn't come in contact with the gas block, you will be fine. The nature of the design allows for a lot of tolerance. I'm betting that you will be OK. Otherwise, mill 1/4" off of the shoulder of the screw-end of the piston and screw it down into the carrier a bit further. You may have to take a bit off of the end to shorten the threaded portion too.
okie shooter 0
You will be able to see easly with the gas tube off when you reinsert the bolt carrier/gas piston into the rifle wether it hits the gas block or not.
rscotth 0
My "crapco" piston was pushing a .25" out but it workes fine. Seems like a big window of tolerance even for a aresenal based weapon but like I said mine works. Let us know if it works. RSH
