Modding .223 bulgi waffle mags

Recommended Posts

HI all, I just picked up 6 used but very good condition .223 waffle mags. I have compliance parts(non conversion compliance that is) on order with BRG3 (sorry Cobra, i love the sporter config on the .223, when i get the 7.62 we'll talk conversion work again!)

The question is what all needs modification on the bulgi waffle mags to fit the .223 with a bullet guide (thanks Dinzag!)

Cobra i know you have just done some of the clear ones, and put them up for sale, care to give some pointers?

Yes i have done searches and found lots on converting weigers and galil etc, but not much in detail on the conversions for the bulgi's

If you know of any threads i missed, love to see them!

Thanks,

I'm pretty sure I have posted about that at least once. You just have to grind or sand down the front 1/2" or so of the feed lips about 1/16".

Don't go too far or they will be loose. Take off a little on each side and try it til you can force it in then take just a hair more. They will wear in a little. You know you also have to shave your mag catch unless you grind some off the bottoms of the rear lugs of all your mags.

That's all you have to do to make the Bulgarian Waffles fit feed and function in a Saiga(or any other AK74 based 223 AK)?

They would still work in a Bulgarian gun then as well with such a minimal modification.

I thought they were a lot chubbier than that.

Maybe they will work in my AK74 to 223 conversions as well :D

Thank You Gentlemen!!
