inparidel,

I appreciate your comments on this subject. Please don't take the following criticism as a personal attack.

The internet is full of opinion, advice, misdirection, etc. Some well intended, some in ignorance, some as an intentional, some genuine. IF these are published decisions, could you point to a source or link?

Until then, I'll take your comments with a grain of salt and consider them as "internet knowledge". But other things make me wonder. ur spellin is kweshonable, IDPA does not host 3 gun matches (IPSC or USPSA does).

Ronswin (who just left for the big sandbox) had an experience talking with an ATF agent. As it is second hand knowledge, I will not post the details. It differs from your info.

Ron, Good luck, hope all is well and you are safe. If you read this and get a chance, you should post your experience here, or in a new thread.

Shoot straight

Just noticed your post. My IDPA does 3-gun matches every two months. Our club is breaking ground in that area. My spelling is a result of late night posting and very bad case of nearsightedness and a refusal to wear my glasses because of the computer screen being farther than reaing glasses distance, but nor far enough for my uncorrected eyesight to kick in. I have a law dergee, so I think spelling was a prerequisite.

Inparidel,

I posted that before I'd read much from you. I'd have to admit NOW, when I see your name on a post I expect good info.

I'd hate to get into semantics with a lawyer :haha: but your IDPA club holds 3-gun matches, but IDPA does not recognize nor sponser them, while USPSA/IPSC or whatever they call themselves :lolol: have a set of rules and official matches. BTW, 2 of the 3 IDPA clubs within an hour of home hold 3-gun matches, but only once a year. They both hold shotgun/rifle "sidegun" matches most monthes. The third holds mostly shotgun sidegun matches but is considering a 3-gun competition occasionally. It definitely is catching on. I think you saw the link I posted it with the strong argument for recognizing action shooting sports as ... sports.

I do think a link to the letter would be a useful addition to the forum.

I'll be the first to admit that my knowledge(?) is evolving, and certainly hasn't run it's course.

According to the government, all guns are illegal already; you just don't know it yet.

To Hell with what they want me to do with my Saiga. Why fix something that's not broken and better than most American-made semi-auto rifles?

Just hope to God another Demoncrat doesn't take the Big Office next November.

a little late I know, but here's my two cents worth ... the wild west did probably have serial killers, however, major crimes were discouraged by public hangings & the ability of the victems & their family's to exact justice.

Follow some of Texas' examples: Ability to shoot trespassers after dark legally; lawfully shoot a cheating spouse; & ability to legally mount ^ carry your loaded long gun in the rear window of your truck.

The strangest thing seems to be happening to me with this whole mag deal. I have talked to K-USA, and AK-USA directly and at length about this, and EAA via email and nobody can seem to tell me what the ACTUAL law regarding this is. I keep getting the ATF says so, but they have not said so in writing..... Chris and I spoke about it and he made the most sense in the intent of the law arguement. But intent and actual wording is not the same thing in most courtrooms. The only exception being that of the ones ATF can control. EAA is saying they cant even sell to me as a dealer! WTF???? I can be trusted to sell machine guns but I cant be trusted to sell a MAGAZINE?!?!?! Whatever.

So I leave it to you guys, the gunowners out there. Do I write to the ATF and ask them about it, and possibly draw unwanted attention to our guns yet again? It would be a clear win for us if they followed the letter of the law. But the down side is they could screw us over on the guns and the mags with their sporting purposes crap. I can also find out if the 10 US parts portion of the law is applied equally to the shotguns. What the heck, in for a penny in for a pound. Once they start looking they probably wont quit until they have probed the issue but good.

So what do you guys want me to do on this? I am fighting for our rights on this USING THEIR LAWS, but do we risk losing some more?

To hell with them Bastards. Don't ask don't tell right??? Besides they will almost undoubtedly pass more restrictions anyway once Hillary takes the white house in 08 especially since they have the congress and senate. I expect a lot more gun legislation after the 08 election. No since in drawing attention to the issue and guaranteeing they restrict it. :ded: :ded: :ded: I intend to buy as many firearms ammo and Hi cap mags as I can in the next year. Especially the way things are going we are likely to need them.

What is the difference between an AK47 in the city (insert whatever city you wish) and a Remington 870 pump 12g or a Browning BAR Mark II?

along the lines of what I was goin on about before....the difference is about 55 rounds going through the apartment building you live in. (If you are unfortunate enough to have to rent, that is, which most do in NYC)

I will also add here that NYC is a place of doing business. Its like one big office. You dont bring guns into work. So they can ban whatever they want down there. I dont need, nor do I want to visit NYC for any reason. I dont like the smell, the noise, or the people there. It sounds like you need to get out of there yourself. Move north to putnam county or something, buy some land. Buy a gun vault and fill it. There is no reason you need an AK-47 inside city limits. Wanna have one on your wall? get a demilled one. So what? It still LOOKS cool. Or why else did you want one anyway? Im all for lets all have 50 million guns each, but well, I can SEE why there are rules about it. Lets just hope they can make a clear cut set of them, and not have to keep making more of them because of idiots out there.

Your example of the gun-control pistol packing guy is an example. They will now argue that the guy that shot him got that gun legally and used it maliciously. People need to stop argueing about some stupid paperwork or city limits thing and get to the real issue. There ARE 300 million ppl in this country you know....lots can go wrong. Only one person needs to screw up to ruin a good thing for the rest of us. We need to make laws to punish the people that do wrong, and when they do, hang them out to dry, but not laws to make the people in the right wrong. Where is the line drawn? I think thats most of the problem with gun control.

Bvamp who in the F**k r u or anyone else to tell anyone what they don't need where? Its a**hole politicians in this country with the same screwed in the head mentality as you that has created all the damned gun legislation. I'm sick and tired of reading your BS anti gun neoliberal dribble. I'm calling you out. Your a fake and you aren't going to change anybodies minds on here you closet gun control nannystate socialist. If you want to pretend to know something then go ahead, but don't come on here and profess your ill conceived illusions about whats what and what laws apply in a what state. Because so far it sounds like your full of crap. If I want to own an M1 Abrams and park it in my front yard I should be able too as long as I have the money to feed its appetite. If I accidentally put a sabot round through my neighbors house then I'll let you personally take me down to the local PD and tell them what happened. Until then I don't have to show a need and I don't need your's or anyone else's permission or a $200.00 tax stamp to please the almighty GunGods of some F***KING dictatorial Government agency who use hundreds of militarized criminal cops to enforce illegal laws and are so damed spineless they prefer to hide behind armored vehicles while they trap innocent women and children in churches then burn it to the ground. Or snipe a mother in the neck while she holds her baby in her arms. If you are fine with all kinds of bureaucrats telling you what kind of gun to have then why don't you go renounce you American citizenship and buy a one way trip to Moscow with your Government check. What we really need is more people walking the streets with guns because the law abiding non criminals far outnumber the criminals who will always have guns. I don't need a degree to figure out what would happen when someone tries to rob a bank and he's outguned by all the employees. Or some kid who cant take a little bullying tries to pull a gun in school and gets turned to swiss cheese by his classmates or per your quote a business man lost his job in NYC and decided to take it out on his boss.

And furthermore while you've finally got me pi**ed off enough to respond to your trife most people totally misunderstand one of the most important reasons why we have the second amendment. People don't kill people Governments do. The primary thought on the minds of our forefathers was a tyrannical Government enslaving the people of this fine country and stripping away there rights. That has been a threat since even before we became a country and always will especially with people like you around. The founding fathers recognized that and thats why we have the constitution and the bill of rights. The Government did not give us the rights God did, they put it on paper that the Government has to recognize those rights. This was so hotly disputed even then that the drafters and signers of those fine articles had to do it under the shadow's of darkness and threat of death to prevent blathering idiots like your self from making this country another Russia. They risked there very lives to make sure it was on paper never to be disputed and for a piece of scum like you to spout off otherwise is downright un American. I do however as a disabled Bosnia veteran support your right for you to disagree. I also support your right to defect. Go lick the jack boots of Mau Zedong or lead the tanks next time they make a run through Tiananmen Square. BUT DON'T TRY TO TELL AMERICANS WHAT KIND OF WEAPONS THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO OWN.

And I quote

Amendment II of the constitution of the United States of America. AKA Bill of "Rights" NOT privileges granted to us by the Government

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a FREE State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall NOT be infringed.
Ratified on December 15, 1791
Long before a socialist party took over our congress and illegally began changing our law of the land. Which by the way congress shall pass no law abridging the constitution and bill of rights.

Amendment X
The Powers not delegated to the United States (The Federal Government a corporation who's borders lie within the 10 square mile confines of Washington DC. District of Columbia)
by the constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, ie Alaska, NY, CO,CA. Are reserved by the states respectively, or to the people. ie Of the people by the people and FOR the people.

"... a constitution, intended to endure for ages to come, and consequently, to be adapted to the various crises of Human affairs."
John Marshall

John Marshall (September 24, 1755 – July 6, 1835) was an American statesman and jurist who shaped American constitutional law and made the Supreme Court a center of power. WIKIPEDIA

At the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention, Benjamin Franklin was asked, "what have you wrought? He answered , "...a Republic if you an keep it".
(not a Democracy like we so often here)

"And to the Republic for which it stands... "

Now I don't give a Sh*t if you want to presume to know something about me after all my brambling's as I have exposed my inner core to you. If I haven't enlightened you a little about what I'm made of then I don't know what to tell you but in the country I swore an oath to defend against "all enemies" foreign and domestic I'm called a PATRIOT.
"This I'll Defend" This I'll defend to death!!!!!

I dunno. I used to stir up a lot of shit back then, in here. I remember trying to word that post how I wanted it to come out, actually, and reading it over, it didnt come out how I had intended, like many things I say.

Can somebody summarize the current state of affairs as it pertains to Saiga legality and modification legality. I see some pictures of these things that look so cut down and sick that given what I have read previously, I am totally amazed that they are legal.
