Just in time for Halloween

Gun-porn time! This took FOREVER to finish, but it's finally done. The gun reliably cycles all loads with all magazines. If anyone is interested, I'm probably selling it pretty soon since law-school is breakin' my bank and takin' all my time. So this poor little gal is neglected in my safe. :cryss:

The barrel has been cut back to 17" with the poly-choke permanently attached to make it 18.5" barrel length. The gas ports (3) have been enlarged to 3/32" to allow reliable cycling with the shorter barrel. Additionally, a Colt 0.044 spring with 5 coils removed is used in place of the stock recoil spring to improve cycling reliability. Finally, the bolt carrier and rails have been polished to minimize friction, allowing reliability with ALL loads and making the gun a dream to shoot. :super:

The hand-guard has been slotted to allow better cooling under heavy fire, and a picatinny rail has been added to allow front mount accessories. To improve looks and accuracy, a Rus-Military AK Front Sight was used to increase the sight radius. The sight is permanently affixed instead of being tacked on with screws. And a KNS Duplex Reticule is used to allow faster target acquisition in low-light situations. Lastly, a poly-choke is mounted in front of the sight-tower to allow a choice of choke restrictions at the flick of a wrist. :smoke:

A SWIFT Notched Selector Lever functions as a bolt hold-open, which combined with the extended mag-release, allows for very fast magazine changes. The trigger has been moved forward and matched with a SAW pistol grip and the T-6 adjustable stock, allowing for a custom fit that maintains the optimum balance of the gun. The trigger has been polished to ~4lbs for minimum pull while maintaining safety.

A blackjack buffer is used in conjunction with the Poly-choke vent and an 11oz mercury recoil reducer to minimize recoil and allow incredibly fast follow up shots. An ATN HUD optic is paired with a Belarus side-mount rail to allow for quick-detach optics that reliably retain zero.

Since this baby was made to fire, it has to be fed...a lot...very quickly. Each magazine can feed 70mm (2.75") shells reliably, and the 76mm (3") can feed either size. Each magazine has been refinished so that it doesn't look like a garage creation: it looks like a very evil 20ga magazine. In order it goes 15rnd, 14rnd, 10rnd, 10rnd, 10rnd, 9rnd, 5rnd, 5rnd, 2rnd.

What might you be asking, if, indeed, you choose to sell?

OH NO!! :o Your not really gonna sell our baby are ya? :cryss:

I've got too much time in that lil darlin'...We need to talk!

Haha, you and I both. The only power tools I own are a dremmel and a drill, so those damn magazines take FOREVER with a hacksaw and hand-sanding.

Just so people aren't confused, Cobra converted me (and the gun) to the darkside by teaching me the ways of the Saiga. I took what he taught and ran with it, but she'd still be stock without his guidance.

And she sure as hell wouldn't be cycling without his expertise. She's not quite as resilient as a S12, but 6-shot or heavier and she'll run without a hiccup. If she's being fed light loads (7.5+) she needs a clean and lube every ~200 rounds to keep her running right. But still, a 17" barrel cycling light loads is impressive to me.

I have to take her to the range a final time this weekend to say goodbye, exhaust my 20ga ammo, and be sure I can stand to part with her. :cryss: She's got about $900 in parts alone, and another $450 in magazines, excluding labor costs. But she was made to be a lower-recoil, faster-firing, higher-capacity competitor, thus she's got some beauty marks that if you look closely you'll notice. Since not everything is show-quality, I'd not expect to get that much for her, but I can't let her go too cheap either.
