Remek 771
Some sweet tactical conversions! I recieved my Timbersmith furniture and AK74 gas tube and bracket, so here I am! Generation 3 of my conversion! Looking a lot more like the baddies' favorite toy from the 80s! I am pretty sure I will be ordering the FSB and GSB soon! I forgot to mention, dang this thing is accurate. I am on or very near the 2" bullseye at 100 yds consistently. Its almost as accurate as my ar15! Theyve defately improved since the 80s! SLR95 thumbhole going on as soon as it comes in, the FF has lost it's luster. Tapco handguard on the way out, going to put a standard lower handguard on with the UltiMAK gas tube rail later. Also a muzzle brake whenever I get around to threading it.

saiganov_raz 11
OG "Saiganov" format, assault formatassault with MBUS flipped up. ^same gun^ ...changed a lot of stuff so if you wanna know what anything is ask and note which "format" youre asking about. i LOVED the saiganov/gorilla sniper setup but ... i fugured i'd get a S308 for the saiganov project and convert the S762 to an indoor friendly assault/defense weapon. i love how it turned out and i'm looking for a Primary Arms red dot (AAbattery style). PROBLEM IS... obama came along with more of his "brilliance" and now i can't find a decent priced S308! guess i'll just have to snipe bolt-action...

saiganov_raz 11
Nice pure logic! The photo appears somewhat small on my phone so I've got to ask... is that a sidefolding magpul stock setup or am I seeing a sling mount or something at the front of your stock? If it's a side-folding magpul as far as I've seen I think you're breaking new ground there. Never seen it before.
Xpur3L0g1cX 3
Thanks, its the magpul moe stock with milspec buffer tube. It folds to the left with the ace push button folder. I wanted something adjustable for length of pull and be able to fold out of the way. I know i know its an ar part on an ak and some guys are purists in that respect but i like it. As far as the sling it attaches at the folding hinge on a swivel stud. Thanks again for looking. Its quite comfortable now on to finding a rds to put on her.
saiganov_raz 11
LOL! "...I know I know its AR parts on an AK..." Clearly you did not look at my 7.62!!! I poosted pics of my gun a post or 2 before your pictures! If you look at the bottom 2 pictures of my gun it has a quad rail (quad rails often seen on ARs), a magpul angled fore grip, Magpul MBUS sights, and a scorpion armaments AR buttstock on a AK adapter. ... to say the least... I am not concerned about AR parts on an AK! I went with AR parts because for my need and intended use there are not a lot of AK specific options. For instance the short sight radius is a concern and there are very few rear sights available for the AK type rifle. I might go side-folding with this stock too. Just wanna get a nice optic first. Xpur3L0g1cX 3
Hey thats an awesome build, love the rails with the mbuis. I was thinking about getting the tws railcover myself. The way i see it if you can advance your weapons platform for suit your needs then do it. i personally love the rails and such just not completely in love with the AR action yet or just not convinced anyway. saiganov_raz 11
You'll be convinced ... just give it time. I'd never trade my AK for an AR. I like ARs. I fucking love the ACR. But... as a sort of torture test I shot my ak every weekend for 3 months without cleaning it at all or even oiling it. Shot straight and perfect every single time. Not one failure. Try that with any AR on the market (really ANY) and you've just probably permanently damaged a $1000+ gun. Or at very least you'd make it out a second or 3rd weekend and see that it wouldn't fire at all. And if you do find one that can perform in that torture test... be ready to pay at minimum $2000 for anything that has even the slightest chance to pass that test. And... that gun will still be shooting 223 or 5.56. The AK isn't quite as accurate but its not a sniper rifle and it's rounds do significantly more damage than modern military 5.56. Its value is unbelievable. I got the gun you saw for $400 and put about $150 into it to make it what it is now. If I count $100 for the primary arms red dot I'm getting, the gun will be easily competing with current military grade weapons that cost minimum $1500 for the measily prise of $650. 1st recon 2
I agree with you...mostly, the guns do serve a different purpose. My AR is setup for long distance shots because the 5.56 is MUCH more accurate then the 7.62 when you are looking at a target from 300 to 500 meters away the 5.56 is my first choice. Inside 200 meters things become more on a level playing field with the advange going to the 7.62x39 not in accuratacy but with pure stopping power and at inside 200 meters the 7.62 is now in its realm. If I only had one gun to grab in a day when SHTF you can bet it would be my Saiga but I hope I can grab both because one never knows what tools maybe needed. You'll be convinced ... just give it time. I'd never trade my AK for an AR. I like ARs. saiganov_raz 11
Saigas come in 5.56 as well. Just about as reliable as the 7.62 versions from what I hear. I mean... the was created and built around the 7.62x39 round... so the best running AK47 types are probably always going to be 7.62. But I would have very few doubts that the 223/556 saigas would pass the torture test easy. They might still not be quite as accurate as their AR counterparts because the action of the AK receiver is totally different and dated next to the AR... but... the thing I've learned about old-russian-guns... they hit hard and they don't stop. That's why they have my vote. Not that I won't eventually get an AR. But they they're easier to shoot in my experience so maybe when SHTF I'll grab the AK and my wife can grab the AR
