Mmcdonn71 2
I tried to keep the gun Russian mostly in looks. Except for the Metal was completely sanded, polished and blued by my buddy. Many many hours of work can't thank him enough!!!!!!!!!! Some of the different metal alloys blued different shades. The dust cover has a copper tone, really cool I thought. Upgrades and mods include: Basic Tapco conversion with grip and stock trigger assembly Cleaned gas ports and block (gun would not run high brass reliably. It was bad) Replaced ejector spring with lighter trigger disconnector spring JTE performance spring PN-1 zenitco charging handle Reliability kit with CSS plug and spring Polished bolt and carrier (Not a mirror finish I know) Axis pin retaining plate Guiderod assembly kit Recoil buffer US made CSS muzzle brake (Based on Russian molot brake) Russian sling Russian DDI-12 hand guard Russian molot folding grip Saiga oem Izhmash crazy priced but awsome looking 8 rounder Russian PK-01V red dot

johnrtse 2
Great site- So much information here! My 1st post here. I just picked up my Saiga 12 from a local gunshop last Friday. Walked in to buy a .22 rifle, and came out with this. It's stock and unconverted, and from what I understand was made in 2012. Got it for $750, extra mags included. I cant see any evidence that it has ever been fired. I have a conversion kit coming from CSS for the conversion. Going to be a plain jane conversion at 1st- I might tacticool it out later. Looking forward to learning and looking at a lot of great Saigas! John

johnrtse 2
Spent the afternoon converting my Saiga 12 today. It took a few hours- I spent a lot of time following Youtube vids to make sure I didn't screw anything up. I went with the CSS trigger guard and trigger group, MFT Engage pistol grip, Tapco standard AK buttstock and metal barrel thread ptotector. It went pretty smoothly, except for that pain in the ass BHO spring. One thing I have to pass on is that Dupli-color part # DE1634 Low Gloss Black engine paint is a PERFECT match to the original Saiga paint.. I didn't have to do any masking at all- Just hit it with wax & grease remove and sprayed away. Now..... Gonna shoot it and get the hang of it before I start jazzing it up.
