Converting M91 764x54R mags to fit SVD/Tigr rifles

Hello,

I recently acquired an original Tigr (1993 production, most likely converted from SVD). The main problem is, SVD mags are impossible to find or extremely expensive.

I do have a way to source for zastava M91 764x54R magazines and they almost look identical to the magazines used by SVD, the only difference being the front and back lugs.

Has anyone ever tried converting these mags to work with the SVD? I am thinking to myself that it should be a pretty easy job, but also wondering if the way the rounds are stacked inside might be different from an SVD mag and might not feed properly.

I am also not from US, so shipping mags is not an option.

Any help would be appreciated.
