More than 100 Illinois police departments joined an international police

association on Monday urging Congress to renew the federal assault weapons

ban, set to end Sept. 13.

French? Did he say French? No? International, huh? Must be French.

The U.S. House has eight legislative days left to vote on a bill that would

extend the ban, said U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.).

YIIIIPPPEEEEEEE!!!!

The Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence compiled a list of 111 police

and sheriff's departments that support renewing the ban, said executive

director Thom Mannard. A letter was sent to all members of Congress in

mid-June from more than over 800 U.S. law enforcement departments

nationwide--including some from Illinois--calling on them to renew the ban.

I'm curious...Did ALL the officers in these 800 departments sign this letter? Did any officers in these 800 departments sign this letter? Bet not. Bet it was 800 liberal police chiefs.

If the ban ends, "I'm sure we'll see more assault weapons on the streets

than are currently there," said Algonquin Police Chief Russell Laine, vice

president of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

Ooooohhh...There will be more assault weapons on the streets. And? So? What's this @$$hole$ point? Notice he didn't say "MORE CRIME", just "MORE ASSAULT WEAPONS". Embarrasses me that this moron wears a badge. Get bent you yankee (no offense to my un-retarded northern brothers) liberal @$$clown.

President Bush would sign a bill extending the ban, said White House

spokesman Jim Morrell.

George, you wound me George. Well, it is an election year.

The ban outlawed the production of 19 types of semi-automatic weapons in

1994. Loopholes in the ban allowed gun manufacturers to modify illegal

weapons, such as by removing a flash suppressor or bayonet lug, to make the

weapons legal, however.

Modify illegal weapons, so they are no longer illegal, to that make them LEGAL? Uh...huh...If they are legal, and not illegal.....Ok, ok...But they are legal, so not, illegal.....What was the question? The only thing more dangerous than a moron with a badge, is a moron with a printing press.

The number of banned assault weapons and copycats or slightly modified guns

confiscated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has

decreased since the ban was instituted, according to a study by the Brady

Center to Prevent Gun Violence.

I'll bet you $100 that before the ban was instituted, there were NO BANNED assault weapons confiscated by anyone. Why? Because there was NO BAN you freaking waterhead. Nothing was banned. What's your point?

If the ban expires, manufacturers could stockpile the guns and magazines

they make while the ban is not in effect and sell them even if the ban is

reinstated, said Gene Voegtlin, IACP legislative counsel.

Gene Voegtlin. Isn't that a French name?

Qustions? Comments? Complaints?

Try living in maryland-we are the'target' state for the gungrabbers. Many out of state dollars trying to turn us into'western england!'. We have an orginization called TRIP WIRE. They watch annapolis and let us know when to call/write our state congressman and senators AND RAISE HELL.

The proper name is "Marylanders for the Preservation of Firearm Owernership".

I believe their e-mail is www.mygun.com . I highly recommend that everyone join or start a similar "PAC'" in each of your own states.

someone never been around gangs i take it? I didnt say it was right, just that I can understand the logic, seeing how the first gun laws in the 20's were made just FOR chicago and new york etc etc. guns were banned in some of the old west towns as well, because PEOPLE CANT CONTROL THEMSELVES. look at iraq. people will act like animals if you let them. just a thought. but, we could just strip all the gun laws anyways, let anyone with ID buy pistols and pack them anywheres, because im out in the country more or less, so it wont affect ME. And if it does, I have plenty of space to dig a hole for ya. :)

(WOO HOO I GOT FLAMED!!!) LOL thanks gaddis

Bvamp,

My pleasure. :)

Actually, I was just watching a documentary (on the Discovery channel, no less!) not too long ago that basically said that Hollywood has hoodwinked us again (is that so suprising? ), that the old West wasn't half as violent as they have portraied it to be on the big screen. Sure, in a few extreme cases there was some scattered violence (that is, when there where actually lawmen keeping an eye on an area (if the territory wasn't too vast to seriously police)), and the other problem they usually faced was that the "lawmen" that they hired (the Earp brothers of Tombstone AZ, for example) were usually just as crooked and underhanded as the criminal element they were sent to try and keep in line.

And the reason why places like Chicago had such a problem with firearms violence is that the gangsters had most of the federal judges and police in their front pockets with illegal payoffs and bribes (thus giving them a measure of protection from ever being prosecuted for any serious crimes they might have had the misfortune of being caught committing).

Saddam (and his henchmen) kept his people in line because if they misbehaved, they usually got ther heads lopped off. I guarantee you would see a sharp decrease in violent firearms crime in this country too (if it wasn't for the impotent (criminal friendly) legal system that's currently in place right now) if the U.S. court system would start lopping the heads off of (or hanging by the neck until dead) the violent criminal element that's out there too.

string them sumbitches up!!!! i agree!!!! if the gov't were to do the math on the money they would save (make cuz they wouldnt cut us a break), by hangin those that are %100 guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt of the right type of crime instead of chargin us $30k+ a year to keep them alive they would probly start doing it! public stonings and sell rocks for a quarter

uhm, 30k+ a year is for your local jail. them's cheap prices. you pay 60-120k a year per head for state prison, 250k a year about a head for federal prison, and about a million (yes, a million) a head per year for death row. if they do life? they should be used as fodder. life without parole should mean a hangman's noose....there are all kinds of ways we could be saving money to fix medicare or stop my taxes from going up 600 bucks a year minimum, or to bring my car insurance down, or make my kid's school tuition FREE (wait, the lottery is supposed to hel pwith that, but it dont. they make enough money, that thier donations as they call them to schools and tuition programs should enable school taxes to VANISH and tuition to be FREE to any but the best colleges).
