1. Yes you need a regular AK trigger group. Tapco G-2, FSE, Century (GAG!), or Red Star Arms.

2. I have some clear (smoke)30 rd and 20 rd mags for sale converted to work in the Saiga if you add a feed ramp or bullet guide. There are also some other options but I think the Bulgarians are the best. Mine work great. Check with dinzag about the bullet guides / ramps.

3. That Russian stock is a pretty difficult install...

4. What pins do you need? The rivets for swapping out the rear trunnion?

1. Use a different trigger group as Cobra suggested.

2. There are many sources for magazines--easiest source depends if you are in the US or not. I suspect you are not in the US, but mags should be available regardless.

3. A side folder will work but it requires some serious metalworking and probably a gunsmith with proper tools and equipment.

4. Don't think you will need new pins, but just to plug the holes where the old pins went, by either plastic plugs, metal rivets, or by welding over the holes.

Sounds like your project can be done if you have the proper resources and help. Good luck Bogdan!

this what i bought for my project from russia . is that gonna work?

Those parts will work. You will need to get the rear trunion assembly (and hinge pins) for the back of the receiver and the butt retainer to keep the stock unfolded when extended, and the front retainer parts to keep the stock locked when folded. You might try KVar http://www.k-var.com/shop/product.php?prod...=283&page=2 for those parts. You can put an AK-74 brake on the muzzle but you will either need to take off the FSB and thread the barrel, or much easier look into the brake that Dinzag on the forum makes http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showto...amp;#entry97331 that will slip on. You also need a handguard retainer for the lower handguard (Dinzag will also soon have these available so you won't have to take off the FSB or the gas block) and a screw and nut for the pistol grip. Lastly, you will need a regular AK gas tube to replace the Saiga one, so the upper handguard will fit onto it.

Any one else care to contribute the results of their Saiga blood, sweat, & tears?

The installation of the folding stock is fairly complicated and should be done by someone with the proper equipment and experience. To give you a basic idea, first the original rear trunion with the tang must be removed by drilling out the rivets. Note, when later replacing the rivets, to use a flat head rivet on the left to allow clearance for a scope platform to slide onto the mount. Then the angle of the rear of the receiver has to be adjusted slightly to accomodate the alignment of the stock. You may want to spot weld the trunion in place so it doesn't move. Then, you have to drill/machine holes for the locking latch for the stock, including enlargement of the hole on the right. Then you need to drill holes for the locking mechanism for when the stock is folded, on the left side of the receiver. This is somewhat difficult due to its position in the receiver. The pictures show the right, left, and rear of the receiver when the new trunion has been installed.

Hello again bogdan. Good to hear from you. You can call my cell again if you want.

Yes that stock is a bit tricky to do.

I have one myself, did you get the hinge and trunnion assembly?

I have a blueprint of where you need to cut the receiver, I will dig it up.

Unfortunately I don't have instructions, but the drawing is nice.

Later,

B
