jtoddellis 2
I've thought about building my own AK. Is it legal if the parts count is right? Has anyone had any experience with the flat recievers? Here is an awfully cheap example on gunbroker http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=21014131 If this is legal does anyone know if it is safe.
KySoldier 2
That is a huge undertaking, and if you do manage to build it, it would be illegal not to register it, since the receiver flat itself is not registered as a weapon, nor is the parts kit you'd have to aadd to it. I don't know how to register it, you may have to do that before you build it.
emclean 0
there is no fed. requirement to "register it", you can make your own firearms, BUT you CAN NOT transfer it, if you make guns to sell you need a MFG. FFL. if you hade any doughts about the legal statis of this, PM me and i can send you to the right places to read the laws.
G O B 3,516
I would try a pre-bent reciever. Look on this and other AK type sites for recommendations from successfull builders. LOL G O B
KySoldier 2
Well, there you go, glad GOB knew the facts. I'm curious though, that would mean that you could buy a flat, all the parts, make it yourself, and it be totally untraceble?
emclean 0
any recever with less that 80% of the macheninf completed is a hunk os metal in the eyes of the ATF, so yes you can make an untracable gun, you just cant transfer it. if you want more imfo PM me. jtoddellis 2
Thanks for the information. Does anyone have a sugestion on where to buy a parts kit. Centerfire systems has them listed but it says they do not include the front and rear trunions.
Bvamp 604
then there is the question of putting a 12 gauge barrel on it and magazine cap.
emclean 0
then there is the question of putting a 12 gauge barrel on it and magazine cap. what questions? you can make a 12 gage, and there os no cap on a weapon with a detachabel mag (except for what state laws you have to deal with)
