Why is it SO DEAD in the Saiga-20 Forums?

Recommended Posts

"Here Ye, Here Ye..." Why the bloody-hell is it so quiet here, within the Saiga-20 forums??? Like... I find myself sitting at home almost every day cruising through the new forum postings, counting down the days (okay, so THAT'S a bloody lie, it will be more like months!) until I get my TROMIX Saiga-20 from Tony "the-stud-man" Rumore... which of course the wait is excruciating torture beyond this plain of existence's comprehension.... but no one (apparently no Saiga-20 owners) have anything to say or report about concerning Saiga-20s!!!!!

Okay... I'm sorry for whinning... (yea, I know I should be shot).... I'll go crawl back under my rock now, and wait for Spring.

Have seen S-20's advertised commercially but haven't seen anywhere that actually has any in stock, and not sure if they have made it over on the boats yet. That may explain the lack of activity in this section.

I know something that will spark up some interest in here.

How about a dedicated picture thread like the ones in some of the other forums? :smoke:

Who wants to go first?

PLEASE!!! I LOVE the gun porn!!!

Actually, I like seeing what others have done w/ their weapons.

OK so I did my first Saiga conversion last weekend, a 410. If people want gun porn then I will use this excuse to show off mine (again!) :lolol:

This is of course just phase 1, I have some other ideas in mind and once completed I will again use any flimsy excuse to post.

Gun control means using two hands! :killer:

What goodies are you getting on your S20?

Most steer away from them b/c it's a bit more finicky than an S12, but I LOVE mine. It's lighter, smaller, kicks less, higher capacity, and is more unique than the S12s. But the s12 has more availble magazines, packs more of a punch, and are more available. I can't wait to finish my S12 build that is my S20s twin. Then I can walk around like Rambo with a 20 in one hand and a 12 in the other.

For AegisDei - First I should convey that apparently I was very fortunate in contacting Tony (of TROMIX) when I did because he just happened to have a stock Saiga-20 in his storage safe that had been provided by another customer a long while back (as part of a large order of Saiga shotguns), but who had essentially run out of funds for the entire lot of Saiga modification shotguns, although Tony had completed and sent on to him almost all. This 'lil Saiga-20 just sort of happened to be left behind... with Tony waiting on $$$ before he would start the modifications on it (Tony, I hope I haven't conveyed anything that I shouldn't have, with what I just wrote). Anyway, Tony offered to contact this gentleman whose Saiga-20 he had in his safe, to learn whether the guy was willing to sell it to me? The guy was willing... so that's how I was able to secure a Saiga-20 (at top dollar of course) via Tony's assistance.

I asked Tony to make his option model #S03 for me with the following alterations: A TROMIX folding stock versus the Ace (as depicted on his #S03), a galil charging handle, and a BHO. The 20ga will be coming with all the other options on the #S03 to include the vented Poly Choke.

I corresponded back and forth by email with Tony regarding slight alterations I desired to his galil charging handle design. In that regard I found myself concerned that I might be pissing Tony off... because after all, I was implying that perhaps his handle design was not "up to snuff" (absolutely NOT the case) and potentially crossing a line with him. Thankfully, that turned out not to be the case; Tony was willing to learn precisely what I wanted altered, and I forwared to him the below .jpg photo:

Although in my assessment, Tony is a man of few words (at least when corresponding by email ) my experience with him has been nothing less than fantastic; complete customer satisfaction.

So obviously... now I'm left with the WAIT. Tony said it would likely take 90 to 120 days before the project is completed. That was the first part of this month (January). Currently, to bide time I've been procuring all the little nit-noid things I should have for the gun: a Pelican 1720 case; shotgun cleaning box with all the rods, oils, impliments, etc., to maintain the 20ga gun; two spare 5rd magazines; and assorted range firing gear. I even purchased a Saiga long-sleeve T from Dinzag ;) . The biggest frustration I've been experiencing is in locating 8 round 20ga Saiga magazines, specifically in 2.75" which is what I truly want (the two 5rd mags I got are for 3" shells). I'm doing a lot of hands-wringing and knashing of teeth NOT to drop a couple hundred dollars on ordering these mags from ruseseller of gunbroker.com (since he is the only person I've been able to locate who can actually acquire these original Saiga magazines)... but I fear that I may just have to do so anyway.

Gary I have the solution for your 3" / 2.75" problem.

Dude, "I'm all ears!" (or eyes, as this case would be)

I have read-up on the recommended modifications to the 3" mags, as posted by Dinzag (I think he was the guy that posted the photos that reflected gluing a wedge of hardwood on top of the mag feed pusher... or whatever the bloody-hell that portion of the magazine is appropriately called).

The thing is, I'm kinda anal-retentive regarding desiring only stock, original equipment for my assessories. I am aware I can send Dinzag several 5rd mags and he will cut and piece them together to make 10 rounders (or 8 rounders, which is my preference) but that doesn't solve my 2.75" issue nor my desire for original manufacturer equipment (OME). As I said.... I'm kind of a nut in that regard .

BUT, if you have some other solution to my quest for locating and procuring 8rd 20ga mags in 2.75" size, PLEASE, PLEASE you are most welcome (in fact I beg and implore you!) to personal message me with your ideas... or where I might go to obtain these items.

Nope, sorry for the tease man. I was referring to the mag follower mods. They really do work well and many have used them with success. I'm working on some new ones made of very hard plastic so they will look a little more original and less garage made. I hear ya on original equipment but they don't make 8 rdrs in 2.75" to my knowledge. I got mine from overseas. That's about the only way. Good luck bro.

Sounds like it's going to be a beauty. I'm glad someone else decided to go the route of the S20. It's like Barbie's little sister: less popular, but so hot!

Whether Saiga or another shotgun, the 20 is simply under-appreciated. Since the law enforcement and military community have focused on 12, that is what people want, that is what they think they need, and that is what is supported by ammunition manufacturers and others. We know the 20 has its niche, and those of us who have discovered it have a lot more enjoyment than those who subject themselves to the shoulder pounding of a 12. I just hope we can find 20 buckshot in the future, it is getting harder for me to find.

I don't think that RAAC could help you with the 8 round magazines but I do know that now that the 20 gauge is back there are about 500 2 3/4 magazines coming in on a shipment in late February. RAAC is already bringing in the 2 round magazine for the 20. So hopefully things will pick up where the 20 gauge is concerned. I know this does not help you with your problem but I just thought I would put the info out there.

Thank you ZIPPYBAR! I appreciate the info... and plan to send Internet feelers out in about two months to see if any of the prominant online dealers are carrying Saiga-20 mags in 2 3/4 inch. At the very least, I do intend to make a concerted effort to obtain a 2 rounder... for bird hunting (if I ever decide to partake in that endeavor). Besides, IMHO it's simply a good-to-have item; the two-round mag.

I want to see some Saiga shotguns (and rifles) become more available at reasonable prices. Yesterday I saw some Saigas sold at inflated prices at the local fun show. While the 12 ga. shotgun is more powerful the 20 ga. is still effective even with five round magazines.

The best part of owning a Saiga is the ability to convert it and learn how to build AK style rifles and shotguns when replacing the fire control system and adding a butt stock and pistol grip.

BRG3 is also selling a B new 20 in the WTS section. Looks like a fantastic deal...... Says he will do the conversion AND put wood on it. You know how sweeet that would be......

I wish someone would buy it before I find myself sleeping on the couch!

Scuttlebutt says BRG3 has sold the 20. I dont know why I am posting this message other than the fact I was hopeing nobody would buy his Saiga untill I had my $hit together. :chris: Oh well flying off to warmer places this weekend! Will try to medicate my brain and forget my imagined loss! :chris:
