410 3 inch shells?

Recommended Posts

If you fire an actual 2.75" shell then measure the hull it will measure 3" open. A 2.5" will likewise measure 2.75" open. With the steel or brass hulls they have a roll crimp instead of being like normal shotshells with the end folded inward and crimped. If you by a 76mm (3") steel hull shotshell it measures the same as a closed 2.75" shell before and after firing. (actually 2 3/4") They both have the same load. Now 2 1/2" is different and won't work in the older guns designed to shoot 3" magnums only.

I'll try and find time to take a pic of a Brenneke 76mm" plastic shell next to a Remington 2.75" and a Barnaul 76mm. I don't have any 2.5's cause my gun doesn't shoot them.

I usually get 3" winchester at Walmart for $9.38ish.

Gander has a much larger variety, but it's much mo' money too. $12-$13/box

You're talking about shot shells, right? I keep checking but have not found any slug loads for .410 there, not even 2 1/2" (which wouldn't help me, anyway).
