Has anyone already tried to make a Saiga or other AK variant in .50 Beowulf? I have seen them in the AR15 platform. From what I understand, they use .223 mags and the rounds are single stack instead of double stack. I realize that this would probably mean a new barrel also. I am still fairly new to this forum but judging from the weapons that I have seen here and the accessories you guys have come up with, I am sure that with a little thought someone here could get it done.

I want to be the first kid on my block to have a 50 cal AK.

tony needs to make a new mutant....

the saiga 223 meets the undergun s12......with accurate sighting.....I bet you THAT would fetch a hell of a dollar, there.

If you're going to do a caliber conversion, it's more practical to build it fresh on a kit, particularly a current barrel-less kit.

There has been at least one 50 AE conversion done by a fellow by the screenname "Meeper" known on the FAlFiles and Gunboards.

SKSs are not cost effective to build anymore. The machining would cost more like $800. But they would be nice for a barrel conversion on existing ones. One company used to do them but I think they stopped. As a donor gun they would be pretty dang cheap if all you were converting was the cartridge.

I would love an SKS scout setup in 6.5 Grendel. 223 would require a different bolt face. I'd say X39, 350x39 (wildcat), and 6.5 Grendel would be the way to go on an SKS. 50 Beowulf maybe, but it would take some doing with the magazine.

Hate to burst the bubble on the S-12/223 combo, but think for a moment how much that thing would weigh and how tall it would be with one AK action under another. The S-12 would have to be SBS and the S-223 would have to be 20" for the muzzles to be flush.

At some point a rifle over the shoulder and an SBS shotgun at the side just makes more sense.

Folks keep telling Tony what to make, but a lot of them just want free gun porn and aren't really looking to pay what it would actually cost. Remember that Tony did quote a price on a beltfed 12ga.

And I'm game pending pricing, schedule, and such.

Actually, on that subject, I might suggest/request that even if the schedule to do other conversions won't be open for a while, if the basic price and specs could be offered people could more firmly express their interest.

While at the gun show this weekend bored out of our minds. We played with a 450 marlin round and a saiga 410. With just a little mag tweeking the 450 would fit the mag. That would be a serious thumper, but Expensive to shoot .

How close is the diameter of the two. Does it look like a .410 could be rebarreled and converted to shoot the 450?

I have seen hand guns that shoot both 410 and 45 LC. Hell, leave the barrel and have a 450 Marlin smooth bore musket.

Just wear your saftey glasses when you shoot it. Joking but still it does not seem like it would be that difficult. I can get rifled barrels but chambering them and making them fit an AK is beyond my experience and ability.
