Painting a buttstock.

Recommended Posts

I have made some modifications on my Saiga 7.62 buttstock and now I need to paint it. I would like to paint it as close to handguard as reasonably possible.

What kind of paint would you recommend?

How much does it cost for 2-4 oz. (Duracoat and others seem to sell these 2 sizes)?

Do I need a primer?

Thanks,

Here's one I shortened about an inch and a half and painted with Krylon flat black with no primer, just some sanding and thinner to clean before paint. Didn't have to paint the forearm.

Cobra 76 two,

Here is mine with some alterations (namely removing checkering and sport "look". I may shorten the stock too. I haven't decided yet.

lightly sand with scotch brite pad and if u use krylon camo flat black it has fusion in it so it will stick to plastic if not u may want to use rustoleum plastic primers first. for dura u should sand blast first no primer needed. if ya go krylon be careful with soulvants and oils good luck devin
