asinner1979 0
Does the trunion (front) need to have or retain a serial number? Is it a controlled (FFL) item? What if a parts kit AK had the numebr ground off? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
kresk 10,063
You use the serial number on the receiver that you will attach to the piece you show.
asinner1979 0
ok, so its no big deal that mine is missing and i could legally sell this without an ffl?
kresk 10,063
ok, so its no big deal that mine is missing and i could legally sell this without an ffl? What you have is typically part of a parts kit, and they do not require a FFL to sell, since you do not have the receiver itself. Often the receiver used will have its own front trunnion and the one that comes with the kit is discarded anyway, so you're okay. Navy87Guy 1
The most significant thing about the trunnion is that it's one of the "countable" parts in the rifle when figuring 18 USC 922R compliance. It really only matters if you have one that was made in the US -- and then all you care about is the "Made in the USA" stamp...not a serial number. Jim
