Shane, get serious and get a Glock. I know it's a pain to learn how to shoot them DAO if you are a 1911 guy, I went through that myself.

Funny Steve, I was catching up on this post and thinking to myself "maybe I should go check out Steve's compact Glock again" and then you said that!! I told you I like the compact one with a hogue grip, but the angle would have to change and the trigger would have to go!

Shane

ps - Robar is a cool site, I'll keep browsing. Trouble is, once it's tolerable, it'll be 900 dollars.

I didn't see this before:

i don't carry because i feel i am too immature to carry one... too hot headed

Props to you for knowing enough about yourself to be safe.

I used to be the same way, but I mellowed with time. After alot of thinking, and about ten years, I finally said "Screw it, I gotta grow up, and learn patience someday!" so I started carrying. It's amazing how much less aggresive you tend to be when you have the capability to "take it all the way". It's kinda like the difference between no limit poker and limit poker. In no limit, you get out each hand as soon as you realize that you don't want to go all-in.

You'll be ready when you're ready, no rush.

Since Shane switched to a Glock to get something lighter, I'm thinking of switching to my V-53 cuz I don't mind the weight. :) Anybody know of a good IWB holster? :lolol:

Might I suggest the Eagle Industries Shoulder Rig? I've got one

Sounds like a great idea. Have you got a part number? All I find are slings for the HK 53. Thanks in advance.

I carried a GLOCK 27 for the last 2 years, it felt small and light at first. But it got heavier.

I wear t-shirts and light shorts in the summer and on my build (6' 190lbs) it printed.

I just switched to a P3AT and WOW-it's totally comfortable bending, sitting down, etc. It is not noticeable even if I tell you I'm carrying. Added a clip and a +1 mag extension.

Took some fluffing and buffing to get it reliable but well worth the effort. 380acp is the min. cal. to penetrate 12" of gelatin and I hedge my bet by loading up with 8 rds of Cor-bon DPX.

I did feel bad about putting the G27 away, so I went out and bought a G35!

Hello, Paladin

yeah, I've been a P3AT fan for a couple of years now...Not a huge proponent of .380's, (who is?) but I am a proponent of having SOMETHING in my pocket/SOB if/when I need it, and there's simply hardly ever an excuse to not have the little Kel-Tec along....

I, too, use the Cor-Bon DPX. I found that the 1+ tended to cause the mag to "drop itself" from the gun occasionally, so I took it off. I use a left-hand clip and keep it small-of-back frequently (for right-hand draw). Or, a "sticky-side-out" soft pocket holster, that completely eliminates any printing.

Made a "note to self"...."Don't try to fire 250 rounds through each of both P3AT's again (mine and the wife's) in one range visit" 'cause the huge blister on the top of my right index knuckle took a week to heal....

I just installed the +1 ext. so I'll have to see how it does. I'm thinking it will help me hang on to the little bugger doing double taps. I've got the same kind of holster (great minds think alike?) But I usually just tuck it in the front. I can draw very quickly from there. And yes, not the weapon for extended range time! Have you tried the trigger shoe? with the heavy trigger I felt it to be more comfortable.

I'm still a 1911 guy...........guess it's just old school, but I still carry a Para, Springfield Match upper, in 38 super. It gives me 20 rounds on the same frame as my P-14. The Silvertip 38 super is still hard to beat. It's Gettin hard to find 20 rd mags now. ...

I have several.

Kel-tec P3AT in a K&D mini-IWB Defender or 2N1 pocket holster w/o the anti-print panel

Kel-tec PF9 - just recently acquired, no holster yet, will probably install the clip-draw clip.

Kahr P9 in a Comp-tac shirt tucker kydex IWB

STI Escort - just recently acquired, 5-Shot Uncle Lou IWB ordered, have carried in 5-Shot pancake below

Para-Ordinance OPS - 5-Shot pancake OWB holster. I rarely carry this one publicly, but do when working around the house sometimes.

there much of a difference between 10mm and .40s&w

Simplified answer is max powder behind the bullet.

I've been carrying my Kimber Ultra Carry II for six weeks or so, )the 4013 needed warranty work). It's a little bit wider, but I've been paranoid about wear since I intend for the 1911 to be an heirloom.

You might think so but when you talk about buying premium ammo things change...

.40 S&W 200gr Controlled Exp. JHP 500rds. $239.95

10mm 200gr. JHP Controlled Expansion 500rds. $254.95

That's only .03/round. I also have a .40 S&W barrel for my Glock 20 so I can shoot .40 anytime I want. Back in my wheelgun days I always had a .357 mag for the house and a .38 spcl. snubbie for the road, it's too bad I switched to autos before they came out with j-frame .357 mags. Now I go with a 10mm Glock 20 and .40 S&W Glock 27. Same sort of thing, I just have to do a quick barrel swap whereas my .357 mag will eat .38 spcl. as is.

Is it JUST a barrel swap? My buddy's got a G20 and he'll never go shooting because of the cost of ammo. Here locally it's a PITA to find 10mm let alone range ammo that you can afford to practice with.

Just a barrel, everything else remains the same including the magazine and recoil spring. You can get an excellent quality Lone Wolf conversion barrel for $100. I got the dual port extended barrel but you can get stock length or even six-inch if you want.
