Building your own muzzle brake or F/H

Recommended Posts

Hey all.

I am going to build an AR-15 rifle fairly soon.

Also, I have access to a machine shop and am wondering about practicality and legality of building your own flash hider or muzzle break.

Keep in mind I sort of want to do it for fun.

As far as I know it is legal.

What do you think, and do you have any tips?

What size are the threads for ar-15 rifles, and what material should I use?

Thanks for ANY and all info.

The standard size threads for AR-15/M-16 rifles is 1/2-28. That is 1/2" diameter with 28 threads per inch. All the muzzle devices I have seen are made out of steel.

This is the most effective design out there.
