screaming eagle 0
Has anyone found good magazine pouches? The 5 rd mags are too big for 20 rd .308 pouches. East German 4 mag AK pouches are way too big unless you want to dump a bunch of loose shells in the bottom & are too much of a hassle to access quickly. I'm currently using GI 30 rd 3 mag M16 pouches to hold 2 saiga mags. theres still alittle slop & they tend to bang together. A 4" section of dirt bike innertube stretched around each mag cuts down on the noise but hinders rapid withdrawal from the pouch. (rubber grabs)
kmoore 3
I've been using the 20 rnd 308 mag pouches. Canvas construction, I hang a couple on my belt and go from there ...
screaming eagle 0
My .308 20 rounders are south african surplus (Fal) & USGI M14. Niether are deep enough to close with the saiga mags. I suspect that the Isaeli pouches might work but haven't come across any lately. The .30 carbine 4 30 rd mag pouches might also work but haven't those around either
kmoore 3
Your right, they don't close over my mag's either. I'm mostly looking for a way to tote them through a stage. They are tight enough to not pop out, but still accessable for changes.
inparidel 4
The East German AK mag pouches for AK-47 or 74 work well for Saiga mags. If yoiu keep them as individual mags, you can get four in a pouch. If you go duplex with a mag clamp, then you still can get four in by putting them in top down. I recommend top down with single mags as well because the wider bottom end is easier to grab.
screaming eagle 0
My biggest problem with the East German AK pouches has to do with the @!#@%^%#@^*%## buckles! Way too slow to open. Eliminating all the straps & the ] shaped matal eyelets Then replacing it with 2" of hook & loop AKA velcro is one solution. but peeling it open is noisy
twinhairdryers 2
This is the setup I use for just going out to plink with my S-12. You can get these mag pouches from cheaperthandirt.com in the miliatry surplus section. They come with 2 clothe dividers for a 3 chamber pouch. I found that cutting down the same side of the dividers, they fit 2 5round S-12 mags perfect. They come with standard utility belt or tac belt loops, so I put them in front of a 25round mag belt (I think that I also got from the same site), so I have 4mags up front, spare rounds all around, and 1 in the Saiga. It's a tight fit getting them out - but to travel with them and flip open a pouch, no problem at all!. http://www.streetneeds.com/uploads/twinturbonet/DCP_0012.JPG http://www.streetneeds.com/uploads/twinturbonet/DCP_0013.JPG http://www.streetneeds.com/uploads/twinturbonet/DCP_0014.JPG They are waterproof, lightweight, and about 2.00 each if I remember OK. Pop the buckle back through the steel loop with a finger tip, and it's open for business. Besides, the velcro IS way too noisy.
cscharlie 107
I know someone who strapped a M16 30 round GI mag pouch to the stock. Says it works well with top end in first.
