Dooleyduke 0
Hi I've been lookin at the sights on the saiga and I would rather have peep sights on the saiga, personally I perfer peep to notch sights. Is there anyway to put peep sights on the saiga, has anyone tried or heard of this before? Also I know that the tapco adjustable stock fits on the saiga without modifications but does the pistol grip go on easy as well or is there some small modifying needed? MD_Willington 11
Yep, people have put them on, some one here actually made a peep site with a washer attached to the OEM one. Search around here... you'll find it. Later MD
Dooleyduke 0
I've also been reading about all the compliance parts needed to use high cap mags, if I install a tapco stock, pistol grip, different handguard and a bullet guide to use ar-15 mags through a galil adapter how many parts will I still need to add to make it "legal". MD_Willington 11
quick way is the G2, thats 3 parts. add a US pistol grip that's 1 add a US butt stock that's 1 you're at 5, so you're good there. add the galil adaptor and a USGI M16 or US AR15 magazine and you have another 3 US parts.. you're good +3 at that point. Found the post on the peep http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=18137 Edited August 21, 2007 by MD_Willington
Dooleyduke 0
Thanks a lot that really helps me out. Not to sound too ignorant but what is the "G2" I've seen it pop up in other forums but I can never really grasp what it is. Thanks
Jguy101 0
The G2 is a trigger group made by Tapco.
uzitiger 193
I have a top cover peep sight which I made from a steel square tube. I cut the square tube to an channel and welded an angle from the tube inside the channel. I then installed the assembly on the top cover with screws and used a laser to mark the aperture hole using the open sights. I then drilled the aperture hole and it lined up with the open sights. I then removed the open sight and had the assembly welded. I found out the protective ears interfered with the scope so I filed them down. Now it looks like the FN-FAL rear sight. I have a longer sight radius of ten inches.
747mech 1
Yes, peep sights on a Saiga. Mojo and Williams both make peep sights to replace the original. I have the Williams, and an orange plastic front post.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't look very....assault rifle-like. williams peep sight Edited August 31, 2007 by Montana3gunner
cma g21 3
A couple of other sight options: Williams AK-47 Aperture Sight Fully Adjustable Peep Sight (replaces stock rear sight). I have these on a Saiga and two AK's (plus a similar model on an SKS). They work, and (at $19.97) they aren't very expensive. The downside is I've read comments on them not being sturdy enough (no problems with mine, so far, but something to consider). http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AKS476-19862-1968.html Mojo sight. Sturdy and very well made (I have one on my Enfield 2A). Only dowmside is they cost more than the Williams. ($59 for click adjustable, $39 for screw adjustable). http://www.mojosights.com/ak47_sks.html http://www.mojosights.com/order.html Edited August 31, 2007 by cma g21
Dooleyduke 0
Thanks a ton, all of these ideas have really helped me out. I'm thinking would it be best just to use the peep or put a scope on. Is the saiga accurate enough to warrant a scope?
roscoe 0
Neither the Mojo nor the Williams do what is most important for any AK - increase the sight radius by mounting the sight back on the receiver cover. There are a couple that do - or will. The Krebs is the best I have seen, but it is not out yet. Tromix will install a G3 style, but I prefer the M16 style. There is someone else who sells one that mounts on the receiver cover, but I can't remember the company name. I am waiting for the Krebs version. They will sell a million of them. fossten 1
Thanks a ton, all of these ideas have really helped me out. I'm thinking would it be best just to use the peep or put a scope on. Is the saiga accurate enough to warrant a scope? Yes it is, I'm ordering this one next week. Built in rangefinder and elevation markers. I put a Mojo on my Saiga, it's excellent. The Williams is cheaper but you will still have to pay for a front sight windage tool, so it's a wash overall. The Mojo is one-stop adjusting elevation and windage. Don't bother with the washer idea, I experimented and it's unreliable. You might as well just buy a Mojo. Dustcover: http://cdnninvestments.com/aktrmonew.html Just my opinion... Edited September 17, 2007 by fossten
