TackDriver 1
I ground down all three rivets on the trigger plate, punched then through, and took off the plate and trigger guard together. I ground the spot on the back side of the plate, and the guard popped off. Simple solution, and didn't take the drill bits out of the case until the bullet guide
rocinante 100
I've done two and I never tried to drill out the spot welds. I ground the welds down on the inside of the receiver with a dremel and just popped the rest off the trigger guard with a punch.
Dullbert 0
The bit doesn't matter, I went to town on that spot weld for 5 hours, let me repeat that 5 HOURS!!!! I was using BRAND NEW COBALT BITS, eventually I cut the guard from the plate using my dremel. It was freaking ridiculous!

There was another thread on drilling for the conversion and whatnot, awhile back, and people were saying how the bit can "harden" if you go to hard or fast. Essentially making it useless. I think that's what happened on my 1st conversion. It was working great at first, but then took a shit toward the end.
