922(r) Compliance Questions from a n00b

Recommended Posts

Hi, I've been reading the threads about conversions and 922® compliance, and I am confused on parts counts. Does the law require you to have at least 10 USA made parts or no more than 10 foreign made parts to have "evil" features such as a pistol grip and hi-cap magazine?

...10 or less FOREIGN parts...

Saiga rifle is 14 FOREIGN parts as imported, to fix the DOMESTIC parts count

Remove

3 foreign parts aka the Russian trigger group

1 foreign Russian buttstock

Install

3 domestic parts aka a G2 trigger group

1 domestic pistol grip

1 domestic butt stock

Thanks. That's exactly what I'm looking for.

Wow, there are ten to choose from! :o

trigger

disconnector

hammer

gas piston

mag body

mag floorplate

mag follower

pistol grip

handguard

butt stock

Pick five if you do a PG conversion, otherwise four.

I currently have US made:

trigger

disconnector

hammer

mag body

mag floorplate

pistol grip

butt stock

I like having seven because I can still use the factory mags and be in full compliance. Although I still think this "law" is a joke, as a union man I like to buy American whenever possible.

Well you can't convert the Saiga to pistol grip because of the AWB and there isn't a US made 10 round or less mag on the market yet so pretty much you have to leave your Saiga stock if you're even allowed to own a Saiga in Cali since it is based off the AK47 design.
