Mike Davidson????

Recommended Posts

Mike Davidson is a sonofabitch. He miraculously comes up with new ways to suck money out of your pockets, then has the audacity to actually answer any question you have PERSONALLY.

I'm sorry. I'll have to work on that! :haha:

Without going back and searching, when is the newest possible release time on these drums? I have been away awhile getting personal issues taken care of. I guess I can put some sort of deposit on one?

I'm ready lets do this. I got a WM on the way now I want one of yours.

I'm sure if I looked through the forum a little I could find answers but I'm just lazy.

If everything goes has I've been told I should be receiving test units at the end of the month. If all is well from there I should be able to start shipping early to mid December. Hopefully that goes has scheduled. I have prepared myself though just in case of more delays. It has be getting close though. Even though I am skeptical of contractors meeting their time lines, I am completely confidant that the drums release is drawing near regardless. This has been quite the journey but I do fell that I am almost there. When I look back at the beginning of the project, it is easy for me to see that most of the process is behind me.

Mike, do you have a signed contract with these people or what? what does it say on your contract about delivery? are the moulds made? why are there so many delays?

Most of the delays have come from me pursuing the 3 inch version. If it wasn't for me doing that I am confidant that they would have been shipping around mid to late July. By me pursuing the 3 inch version it threw everything off whack and track. I don't regret that though because with the extra time I was able to come up with many improvements. Like a way, way stronger structural body and cover design, a lighter gear assembly, a stronger spring, a better dummy round design, finding a much better material than typical glass filled nylon.... just to name a few of the better ones.

I do have signed contracts but really it was me that originally threw them off track. The people I have contracted have been great in working with me and I really can't complain. I have many other projects they are going to be doing for me as well and I don't want to make their experience with me a bad one by complaining to them or anything since they have been so helpful.

One thing I do worry about that could possibly cause more delays is for one it is going to be around the holiday season and I'm not sure what these companies have going as far as vacation time. Also the company that is doing the actual injection isn't the company making the molds. The molds (except for the cover) are going to be ran on the same injection machines that are shooting the nose cones and detonator housing for the Excalibur project (the new laser designated/gps artillery rounds as seen on Future Weapons) and other conventional artillery round parts (special injection machine for special materials). Though it hasn't been spoken, I would have to guess that if the gov said, "We need these now.", you could guess who would be on the back burner from another gov contract. These are just possibilities I have thought of and hopefully there won't be these or any issues that cause delays.

I was planning to ask the injectors if I could have a couple of the nose cones to post pics of for you guys. I kind of doubt I will be able to show you any of the Excalibur parts because I am guessing they are kinda classified or something but I'm gonna try.

The drums will be heavy artillery grade. Nice.

Will the drums use the same kind of plastic as the Excalibur?

No. I'm not sure of the exact make up of the Excalibur material, I do know what kind but not the grade. Both the materials require that hot oil be ran through the mold instead of cold water. Most thermoplastic molds will have the material injected and then cool water will be ran through channels in the molds to help cool the material and make it lock up. The material in my drum and the Excalibur is very high heat materials. The difference is hot oil is running through the molds before the material is injected. After the material is injected the oil flow is shut off and that is good enough to make the material lock up quickly.

I ordered 2 drums and 2 extra springs within 5 minutes of these beauty's going up for sale.

BEST investment I have made all year! Mike takes the time to respond personally, I don't

know about anyone else, but I dont have that kind of patience. I will happily wait for a great

product at a good price. Thanks Mike, I look forward to your next project. Hopefully a "Metal Storm"

converted with 4 (or even 36) Saiga 12 shotguns.

Check it out;

I was able to get some of the artiliary nose cones. I think the one on the left goes to the 155mm conventional and the one on the right goes to the new Excalibur round. The company also makes the detonator housings and assemblies but I didn't get any of those.

2 the original poster of this thread - I offer the following:

dude - chill out! MD is bringing us the most cool S-12 products on the planet. He is R&Ding them as we speak. Give him time - granted the current status of the firearms industry right now (esp. the mil spec. side of life) I think we ought to give praise to anybody who takes on all the B.S. associated with bringing us some new life to our "evil mil type rifles or shot guns." BTW fuck comifornia an their new "stamp the bullet with the serial # hand guns." Do you see where we are headed? Now MD is not no Solstice Arms - oh U do not know the Solstice Arms saga????? Well until MD compares to Solstice - BACK OFF! Just let the man deliver - or not. But my guess and faith says DELIVER!!!

Our community has 2 stick 2gether. Just have patience!

Mike, your a jackass....is that one of the ergo style pistol grips you were talking about making in the background of the nose cone picture. Me thinks someone may be holding out on us :haha: I'm going to start checking out what's in the back ground of all your pics.

Yes, I was kidding.....Mike's a pretty stand up guy. I do have my suspicians about that pistol grip though. If that's not a factory grip, I can see a lot of SAW style grips going bye bye.

I've come to use the term Jackass as a term of endearment, it's all in how you use it, and what you follow up with. You guys need to loosen up a bit :haha: and start having fun again.

Welcome to my main lab. It also doubles as a computer desk. The pistol grip is factory and that is a factory magwell mag as well. I haven't prototyped the grip yet. But it will be coming before to long. You are also correct on the jackass thing. I have proven this on many occasions! :haha:
