MikeD 541
I did some research into the forums timeline and added saiga-12 events as well. I did find something funny though. The site says we are at 7000 members but actually we only have 6839 members currently. First i thought the discrepancy must of cam from removed spammers and banned users but they are all still in the members list and counted as a member. I don't know where the number is getting messed up at. But we are still very close to 7000 members either way. The reason I did the research was just to get a baring on what has effected the forums growth and to also see how accurate the post made in this thread was http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=20565. I hope it turns out easy to read, I don't know how to make it a list but will do my best to make it read easy. Here are the abbreviations I'll use: forum members # = FM#, join date = JD, time between 500 new members joining = time between, and the saiga-12 events will be listed directly below each line if something big happened in the time period. FM # ------- JD -------- time between ------------ 1 ------ 2-10-03 ------------- N/A ----------------- 500 ------ 3-17-04 ------- 1 yr, 1 month, 7 days ------- 1000 ----- 11-05-04 ------- 7 months, 19 days --------- Assault weapons ban expired making conversions legal roughly 2 months prior/ Tromix starts doing SBS's down to 12 inches 1 month, 10 days later 1500 ------ 3-01-05 -------- 3 months, 26 days -------- 2000 ------ 10-08-05 ------- 7 months, 7 days ---------- AGP announced they was making a 10rd mag roughly a month prior 2500 ------ 3-12-06 --------- 5 months, 4 days ---------- Tromix started doing SBS's down to 8 inches a couple months prior/ the new importer RAA received their first shipment of 12ga's about a month prior 3000 ------ 8-03-06 ----------4 months, 22 days --------- AGP started taking preorders for the 10rd mag a little over a month prior 3500 ------ 11-25-06 -------- 3 months, 22 days ---------- AGP started shipping 10rd mags 10 days prior 4000 ------ 1-22-07 ---------- 1 month, 26 days ----------- 4500 ------ 3-07-07 ---------- 1 month, 13 days ----------- MD Arms announces they are building a drum 3 or 4 days later 5000 ------ 5-15-07 ---------- 2 months, 8 days ------------- A member announced that Alliance is building a drum a month prior 5500 ------ 6-14-07 ---------------- 29 days ----------------- Alliance starts shipping their drum about 2 weeks later 6000 ------ 8-11-07 ----------- 1 month, 28 days ------------- 6500 ------ 10-04-07 ---------- 1 month, 24days -------------- MD Arms announces they are building a magwell a couple weeks prior 6839 ------- 11-14-07---------- 1 month, 10 days ------------- What all this breaks down to is that the site has not grown proportionally from age, it is grown by events in the saiga world. The first was the ban expiring making conversions legal which was quickly followed by new conversion business starting up. It gradually increased from the average from here because of companies like Tromix that could finally make the saiga badass. The next big thing was AGP mags. Once the AGP mags started shipping membership join rates was going off the charts and has held this basically ever since. Hell, in the last yr since AGP 10rds started shipping, more members have joined in that yr than in the entire 3 yrs of the forum before the AGP mag. My drum didn't seem to cause a growth just from announcing I was making it but the 10rd didn't really either until it was being shipped. It doesn't seem that the WM did anything for growth even after it was being shipped and we can probably guess why. I think it will be interesting to see what forum growth does after my drum is shipping and the magwell is out along with all the other stuff going on. Like comp shooters finally taking a good look at the saiga and all the other neat things coming out for them. The forum is growing but not because of time, but because of events. acercanto 6
That's a really interesting read, Mike. Thanks for compiling that info for us! Acer
busy_squirrel 1
If you're counting the release of AGP mags, MD drums, and WM drums, it'd be helpful to include FBMG mags in the timeline as well.

I was only comparing the join rates to saiga-12 events. I do realize there is a lot of other saigas other than just 12ga but I'm guessing most people come here because of the 12ga. The timeline, I'm sure is missing many factors in it.
MikeD 541
Does anybody knows when EAA stopped importing the saiga? I think that might of had a big part to do with the lower join rates throw '05 due to stock drying up.
Bvamp 604
the numbers ARENT off. thats the thing. your information is incomplete. thats all the problem is. Im not disclosing private forum business on the public airwaves, shoot me a PM with when and where I can call you in the near future, and we can talk about it, to rest your mind at ease, mike. we arent TAINTING any numbers, and arent drumming up any false info to make ourselves look better. I will let Max decide, when he comes back, if he wants to share the explanation for this.

I will let Max decide, when he comes back, if he wants to share the explanation for this. I don't need a reason or anything. I just found the difference in the numbers and thought something got off. I truly never thought it was anything in the deceptive nature or anything and believe you that there is a perfectly good reason. It really isn't a big deal. I really didn't mean to strike a bad nerve either and apologize.
Bvamp 604
nah its alright. The numbers are right, though. the reason the member count is different than the registered user count, i CAN tell you, is because of banned users. we dont delete accounts or PM boxes here. The other discrepancy is something that I am unsure if is even relevant to discuss in the public forums. Maybe Max will give you an answer to that when he comes back.
