Replacement Parts for Saiga 308

Recommended Posts

How hard is it to get replacements for parts that are more prone to break or wear out?

I will soon have my Saiga 308 in my hands. I was thinking about getting a second Saiga 308. One reason would be to ensure I have replacement parts. These guns are not that expensive; so, I figure what the heck. However, I may not get a second gun if replacement parts are easy to get.

Please don't respond with something like, "Don't worry because nothing will wear out."

Most of the AK parts are pretty generic, except for the bolt-associated items. Maybe Saiga Stock will be carrying some specific items, or Tantal (Doug Ford) has some Saiga parts. Can't argue with you about just getting a spare .308, given the prices are still relatively reasonable.

Old thread being brought back up. Sorry. To answer your last good question about the Saiga 308 extractor being needed to be fitted, my uneducated answer would be probably. However, since it is NOT the bolt head, such fitting probably would be quite easy to do, especially if you could remove the stock extractor and compare the two. My read only. HB of CJ (old coot)

I hit on the site provided, but I could not find anything about Saiga 308 extractors. Anything I did wrong or did not do? FWIW, my project to hand make my own S 308 extractor is still on hold. Still in the Dremil tool stage. Heat treat also still not done. Hb

Did I break an extractor? No. I just want the spare in case I do. Rather have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Same thing with the firing pin. A spare S 308 bolt head would be nice also, but that would be expensive and would definitely require fitting/headspacing. Just me. HB of CJ (old coot)
