MikeD 541
I see now there are cover options, solid clear and smoke What happens to those of us who ordered before the options were available? I'll be sending out a mass email to all customers asking for their cover selection. Please wait until you receive the email to give me your selections. I was TRYING to update the site with drum order cover options and extras covers for sale. Stuff got really screwy. I am going to my web guys tomorrow morning to see if it can be worked out. I talked to him on the phone and he is clueless as well to why it did what it has done. Something got the quantity available all messed up. It was showing a quantity but it wouldn't let an order go through and said they wasn't available. I had to add extra drums to get past the glitch. I had to remove the extra covers for now as well. I was able to leave the option for a drum order with cover selection. Hopefully I'll have some pics up tomorrow and the problems worked out.
SaigaNoobie 66
Great, I'm eagerly awaiting a choice May I suggest that when you send out the mass email that you include the loaded drum pictured from the rear with all 3 attached? I'm sure it will make people more quick to respond. Also, is there anything (material-wise) different between the black and the clear/smoke? It will make a difference if the black is the same material as the rest of the drum but the clear/smoke is something less durable. Just curious. That is a good thread to read on cover strength info. I do have a little more info on this. Originally I thought the black would be shiny and put off a glare. I changed the finish on the exterior of the cover from high polish to a vapor blast. It knocks off the reflective glare from a high polish finish. It is basically like sand blasting the mold with powder instead of sand. It is still very clear to look through and just removes the glare. Everyone I've asked says that the shrink rate differences between the 2 material is probably enough to make the fit off if I tried to use the body material in the cover mold. I might test it down the road but that would be well after the first run.

MikeD 541
I know its probably too late but maybe down the road a nice change for the clear covers would be to add numbers to each shell location to easily show remaining rounds. it would require a change to the molds and would not work for the black ones but it would be handy. I can promise one of the first things I will do is either engrave, or use a small tip paintball to mark them or at least on the 5,10,15,20. I thought of this and desided against it. I was afraid that it would make the cover to cluttered. Adding 5, 10, and 15 might not hurt though.
tomovich 0
Just to confirm this; the choice of colors is just for the back cover?? The "body" will remain BLACK, correct?? Thanks.

Yes, the body is always going to be that matte black. Right. It is the only color the material type and grade is made in. I don't see any color options for the material anytime soon either. It is made to order and not many people at all use it because of cost or it's over kill, or just unaware of it's existence. There are many different types and grades of it. I went high end. Also the glass fiber used in it is not your typical glass fiber either. It has "special" characteristics as well!
