jhartmac 0
There was a mag adapter that could be affixed to the receiver that would allow regular AK mags to work?
greatmoose 4
Can't happen with the S-308. Mags aren't big enough.
G O B 3,516
The chamber is a dozen MM too long for X39, and that's all you can load in AK mags. Apples and acorns.
appalacious 0
I like the spirit of innovation though! The next logical question is what about an adaptor for G3 or FAL mags? Those are even cheaper than AK mags, and big enough for 308. Any thoughts on that? J

ultragooey 0
how about M14 mags?
G O B 3,516
Research old posts grasshopper. You will find hidden wisdom.
ultragooey 0
i did, but nothing i found was conclusive enough to determine whether it was a feasible mod. Someone did it with some JB weld, and it didnt look like it was going to be reliable.
mr. fudd 0
Here's a more interesting question. How safe would it be to mill away part of the trunnion so that unmodified or slightly modified FAL, G3 or M14 mags could be used? No, it's not something I'm planning on doing, (I have some Surefires now), but if it could be done without compromising the integrity of the rifle it would be a fantastic modification. It makes me wonder how much of the trunnion/lug design was for strength and how much was to create a proprietary magazine so that it could be imported.
