swagge1 0
I recently bought 3 30 rd Promag plastic waffle mags for my Saiga 7.62x39 that I am about to convert. After doing some reading I'm pretty sure what I'll need to do before they'll seat correctly. Is this the part that needs to be filed down (Red arrow)? Is it easier to use a Dremel and do it in place or is it better to remove the latch, file it, then re-install it? I don't have my Saiga sitting in front of me, but I seem to recall it being held in place by some sort of riveted pin. In that case it would probably be easier just to file it in place. Thanks -Scott

Thanks -Scott Yeah, that's the part you need to file. I used a tapered hand file and filed it in place (I think removing the mag catch to file it would be more trouble than it's worth, IMO). It was tedious, because the file got too big at a certain point, so my filing strokes were short, I think I'll opt for the Dremel method the next time. There are some threads on this very subject, people posted pics and all. But whichever way you do it, go slow and check for fit often. You don't wanna take too much off. Here's some threads on filing the mag catch: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=18612&hl http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=13206&hl
nalioth 405
Yes, go slow. Check often. Patience is the key to proper fit here. "You can take it off easy, but it's way harder to add it back."
mib2nd 1
Also, you will need to add a bullet guide or the cartridges will not load properly. I recommend Danzigs bullet guides. He includes a drill bit, tap and screw to properly intall it. The only other thing you need is some Locktite to keep the screw in place.
