Tromix booked, whos next up w/ quality conversions?

Recommended Posts

Tromix is supposedly top notch to a newbie like me. Who has the QUALITY and patience to do conversions next in line?

Can you grind and Tig our Saigas like the best of them?

Where are your photo galleries to show all your work?

Are your converted pieces quality, do they jam-up?

What if they do jam-up, then what?

Lots of us want to see who can make up for Tromix's busy, booked, no more orders thing currently going on.

Whos stepping up to do quality conversions for us all?

whos coming with me? hell yeah!

I have a BATF Manufacturing License, so I am legal .

I weld the trigger guard and rivet the rear pivot holes.

I can start to weld and grind your Saigas if that is a must.

My work can be seen at my web site www.vikingkittyarmory.com (the name is such because we original marketed to selling guns to girls)

I only have 223 and 762 up right now. I don't have any 12 to convert and sell, But I have done them.

Jamming - they will be more reliable then they were before the conversion.

I have a savage snail in my shop and I use it.

But if they do jam-up, then we diagnose the problem before we send it to you

Finally if you want parts that I don't stock, just send them with the gun.

Oh, and I advertise of this forum to support the community which supports me.

I'll be at the Florida Saiga Shootout in march. you can see my work there.

Hello Viking Kitty Armory,

Glad to have you on board for the March shoot & I, for one, am looking forward to seeing you there. I'm on the Tromix wait list & will send them one to do, but there's other Saigas that still need some TLC during that gap ;)

hey VKA, do you duracoat? if you do, what kinda $$ and turn around time are we looking at?

Currently we are just media blasting and spraying paint.

We don't have an cure oven and without baking DuraCoat takes up to six weeks to fully cure.

Until we can do it right we are just going to stick with paint.

I just saw that IPSCguns will be comming on as a Business Member shortly

I will concede that they will most likely pick up the overflow from tromix on the custom saiga conversions.

This is cool because our goal at VKA is produce a production gun rather than custom one offs.

This way the gun waits for you rather than you wait for the gun. You see it you like it, you buy it.

So what exactly are you looking for?

You say you want features that E-Tac offers. You say you want custom parts that E-Tac makes. You use 3 E-Tac pictures in your post. But, you don't want an E-Tac gun?

If you're looking for "QUALITY," you know where to go.

If you're looking for "QUALITY" at a CHEAP price, good luck.

MY RESPONSE FROM ABOVE QUOTE:

"I've just purchased a saiga 12 for $500, $30shipping, and $20 FFl".

who said cheap?

The firearm is cheap, but the mods are expected to run up a bill.

I might be a Saiga 12 newbie, but I am surly not new to mods or cheap!

Etac sounds good but who's got the customer pics of their work(not from the companys page)?

Anyone have other converted Saiga 12 pics to prove some company skill?

Thanks and again please let me know who did your work.

Can anyone get an HK sight TIG'd to a reciever without sending the gun?

Can anyone get a front HK sight TIG'd to mount to an Ultimak rail "at the proper height" to still

be at the same elevation as it were without the rail.

My AK photos above show how nice it is to be able to see your "iron sights" through your holographic optic

with the use of a Trijicon Tx30 and an Ultimak rail(gas tube replacement).

I know the $399 sight and $90 dollar sight is more than my AK is worth, but the function is priceless to me.

To sum it up,

can this conversion be done again with a Saiga 12?

You have to TIG weld the front HK sight (machined square on the bottom end and adjusted for rail height) to a steel rail (like our E-TAC rail) that is TIG welded to the gas block/tube. Then weld the rear sight on. both front and rear height can be adjusted to match your dot scope.

You cant TIG weld steel to aluminum.

MY RESPONSE

Thanks Estaban,

Do you have close up pics of this steel "ultimak" style rail mounted on a Saiga to show us?

I see a photo but it does not show to much detail.

My Ultimak AK rail is actually the gas tube also.

Is this the same with the product you speak of?

The E-TAC rail is cut from 1018 barstock to MIL-STD-1913 then welded on. The Ultimak rail is 6061-T6 aluminum and is bolted on.

Esteban,

This interests me as well. I would like to know if it would be possible to mount the HK style sights, as well as a rail to mount an Eotech that would co-witness with the iron sights? If so, how much would this cost?

I did something close to that request. I used an ar15 A2 butt stock. which raised the raised where the eye wanted to be. then I attached a rail using the dovetail of the rear sight and a set screw where the front post was.

then I used flip up sights from YHM, co witnessed with a eotech.

It worked but it was ugly as sin.

Really, an Eotech cannot be mounted low enough for an AK. "IMO"

I do agree with the non use of an Eotech on the AK, that is why I have a Triicon Tx30 optic with the chevron on mine. An Aimpoint is just as low too.

I like the looks of a Saiga with a Ultimak/custom Etac rail, HK sights, and a "co-witnessing" optic. I understand the Ak type front sights can be on a Saiga 12, but I am still interested in Hk sights.

Can E-tacs tall picatinny rail be lower than in the pic above this? I think it could possibly be a tad bit thinner, no?

Maybe the handguard is just low in that pic?
