Piranha 0
Saw the "Suomi" M31 9MM Kits on Centerfire's web site, and they look like a fun project. Anyone have info on them? Are kits any good? Is the gun itself any fun? How difficult are they to put together? It didn't look like it, but would I need an FFL to order it? Thanks
J A 0
The Soumi 31 is a machine gun and it is aganist federal law to make a machine gun. So the kits are useless unless you want to make a semi auto rifle. The reciever is scrap as it has been cut into pieces with a torch. So you will have to make a new receiver. It fires from a open bolt so you can't use the bolt to make a semi auto rifle. The barrel is less than 16" so you will have to make a new one. The trigger parts allow it to fire full auto so you will have to make new trigger parts that can only fire semi auto. You don't need a FFL to order a parts kit as it is not a firearm. KySoldier 2
But the drum mags are popular because people combine them with other 9mm mags to create drum mags for SMGs.
Guest jestism
You can find 80% receivers for the Suomi M31 at www.prexis.com/sten/
Vaarok 0
A lot of the guys who collect Russo-Finnish stuff are anticipating a kit coming out in the next few months, made by a member, that'll be a legal semiauto if you assemble the parts onto it. Supposedly inaccurate as hell, but still neat.
CrazyJ 0
As a history major/possible teacher, I've been really tempted to get one, make some sort of dummy receiver, and mount it on the wall.
