Vultite 57
I'm sure at least one of the people you know are against CCW permits, and one of the MOST said things is "Call the police" or "call 911" So, with that in mind, if we are to call....what do we get? In every, or almost every state in the US, courts have adopted a ruling from way back when, that says "the defendant law enforcement agencies and officers did not owe them any legal duty of care, the breach of which caused their injury and death ...Our law is that in the absence of a special relationship, such as exists when a victim is in custody or the police have promised to protect a particular person, law enforcement agencies and personnel have no duty to protect the individuals from the criminal acts of others; instead their duty is to preserve the peace and arrest law breakers for the protection of the general public" so, if ya'll didn't know, now you do, and spread it to your friends who things guns are "evil" PS: this ruling goes back to 1856 i think, and has been adapted to courts to present day Edited February 25, 2008 by Vultite

Oleg Volk has some photos to counter the "Call 911" route to protection. Not necessarily just concerning CCW, but they still get the point across:
